Salemanijak reacted to boggy77 in I want to upgrade my PC
what country/budget? the 5600x draws little power, so a mid-range b550 board like a asrock pro4 is more than adequate. also, get a 1tb ssd so you can have the games on it, it's not 2006 anymore to have games on a hdd. you don't need separate os and games ssds, just get a 1tb one.

The only issue that will prevent the CPU from running perfectly in the B550 Tomahawk is the BIOS revision that the motherboard ships with as it is not compatible with AMD 5000 series CPUs, so it will require a BIOS flash with the newest BIOS that support AMD 5000 CPUs. Since the B550 Tomahawk has a flash BIOS button on back I/O of the motherboard, you should be able to flash to the latest BIOS that supports the 5600X with a USB thumb drive with the BIOS on it. That is really the only issue with the BIOS.

Yeah you should be fine with just updating the BIOS on the motherboard and it will start right up as normal. I personally buy Corsair RAM as I hardly encounter issues with their RAM sticks, but I can't speak about their RAM with AMD rigs (Using Intel right now and my previous build). The Patriot Viper Steel is pretty good but if your getting 4000Mhz, I would just set DOCP on so it achieves the rated speeds the RAM is good for.

well you can paint the VRM and chipset heatsinks. there is a video about that. in fact you can paint the whole board(almost). that is shown in this vid too: (i would only paint the heatsinksm too risky otherwise):
very good case. corsair 220t airflow white version is a good option also.
good choice.
'Corsair iCue ql140 or ql 120 white version are also good.
Corsari LL120 white also good

It's probably going to have to be a full tower for a 360 up top. You'll get better thermals with a front mounted rad anyway.

Actually, that one only works for the front.

Salemanijak got a reaction from lexidobe in Need help with choosing NVMe M.2 SSD
Okay, I hope someone will suggest me some good ssd. Thanks for the answer.

You won't notice a real world performance difference between the drives, so I would get one from a company with good support and a good reputation such as Corsair or Samsung. I have heard bad things about Patriot's support so I personally wouldn't buy a drive from them. Hopefully someone else with experience with that drive or other M.2 drives in that price range chimes in

Salemanijak reacted to Arrogath in Which MBO should I get for Ryzen 7 3700x?
kind of depends what features you need or want, quality of power delivery is a consideration as well. You could probably still buy a B450 or X470 board if you don't specifically need gen 4 pcie but want to get other features on board.
Decide your requirements in terms of built in: Wifi, High Speed LAN ports, number of USB ports and headers, number of sata ports, thunderbolt compatibility etc
Keep in mind that if you find a great deal that's missing one of your needs you can just price out a pci-e card that adds what you need
I agree the Tuf X570 is a pretty good choice in terms of solid overall board, definitely worth looking at depending what you need in terms of features

PCPartPicker Part List Type Item Price CPU Cooler be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 50.5 CFM CPU Cooler $86.46 @ B&H Motherboard Asus TUF GAMING X570-PLUS ATX AM4 Motherboard $189.99 @ B&H Case Fractal Design Meshify C ATX Mid Tower Case $98.99 @ Walmart Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total $375.44 Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-04-17 14:27 EDT-0400 This board should offer about everything you really need, with very similar VRM capabilities to the Taichi.
I'd suggest going with a high-end air cooler instead of an AIO, for superior reliability and potentially lower noise. (an alternative to the DRP4 would be the NH-D15 chromax.black, but that's slightly more expensive)
The Meshify C is a great all-around case, and while it is over $75, with the money saved on the motherboard and CPU cooler you could probably afford it.

Salemanijak reacted to minibois in Hello I need suggest for a 2x8GB 3600MHz RAM
Personally I have good experiences with this set: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/DwVG3C/gskill-trident-z-neo-16-gb-2-x-8-gb-ddr4-3600-memory-f4-3600c18d-16gtzn
Looks like under 100 USD with RGB you can choose OLOY, GEIL or Partiot. Not sure how their RGB implementation is. There is also normal TridentZ for 100 USD, but NEO is specifically made for AMD so you have a good chance of it working right away. But the normal TridentZ might work too.

I mean, you're paying more for the name, nothing else really. Boost clock, power target, cache, uarch, they're identical.

Being a YouTuber doesn't mean you're correct. LMG have 8 million subscribers yet they've been wrong multiple times over the years.

It's not all bad though.
Closer to launch, my friend (who got the ASUS TUF X570 Gaming-Plus) was trying to get the 3700x, but it was OOS everywhere. He managed to get the 3800x for $329 on sale, which at that time was the same price as the OOS 3700x MSRP.
It works and he gave me the Prism since he had planned to use a Noctua NH-D15. I got a Prism for my Ryzen 5 1600, and his 3800x works perfectly fine.
I suppose this isn't relevant except to say, nobody will make fun of you for having a 3800x, and it works.

Devil's advocate: $30 is cheap insurance to put your mind at ease imo.
I've spent more money on dumber things. Like auditing protection on TurboTax, even though I have the simplest taxes and no reason to fear audit.

Salemanijak reacted to 5x5 in 3700x vs 3800x, worth or not?
That is a load of nonsense. The TDP value has not been relevant for almost five years. Both CPUs boost the same and perform the same and come with the same stock Prism. Seriously, your friend is giving you bad advixe

Absolutely zero reasons for the 3800X exist. Literally no reason to get it. You're wasting money considering the 3700X is the same CPU and hits the same clockspeeds

3700x and 3200mhz ram. Scrap the x570 board idea unless your gonna use the pci 4.0 for an nvme workload.
