I didn't expect Sony to fold. Hopefully most of the people who reviewed the game negatively because of this will remember to update their review. I also hope that "we'll keep you updated on future plans" doesn't mean "we'll try again in 6 months".

Glad you like your OLED monitor. I've been using the LG C2 42" for 2 years now and my experience has been pretty smooth so far. Even though it's only 120Hz, it's more than responsive enough for my more casual gaming needs. Not to mention, my 3080 is mostly just hovering around 60-90 fps anyway since it's 4K. Even though my model only has a peak brightness of around 650 nits, it still has an amazing HDR experience with true blacks. I love seeing how much attention OLED panels are getting in monitors these days, and I hope there will be more improvements before it's time to upgrade again. There is still room for improvement in terms of full-screen brightness, text clarity and VRR flicker. But even with these minor issues, OLED delivers a better gaming experience than any other display technology.

You might want to reformat your post in dark mode, since most of the text isn't readable until you go into bright mode on the forum. Make sure text isn't colored black, but 'Automatic'.

    Glossy hands down.

If you havnt ever seen a Gloss finish panel on a suitably high contrast display, like a good VA panel LCD, OLED, Plasma, or CRT, then you really dont know what your missing.

Even on the best high contrast displays, a Matt finish will reduce contrast, and black will no longer look as black as it should.

The drawback, reflections, sharp bright reflections.

But, if your the kind of person who is really into displays, you will already have the environment adjusted to account for the type of display your using. So reflections shouldn't be a problem.

Ofc, if the panel itself is total crap, the final coating used is irrelevant. Sure a glossy finish may look less crap than a Matt one, but its still crap.

They just screwed up by offering a "includes all future DLC" bundle in the first place. That was destined to bite them in the ass (cash flow wise) no matter what. Especially when making such a niche game with a limited reach and potential player base. They have created a situation where they can only lose in the long run.

Their customers have every right to be upset. When the developers changed the deal and suddenly decided that the next piece of content wasn't going to be included, they actually broke the law. It's simply false advertising at that point.

It's not the customer's responsibility to think about the developer's cash flow. And ultimately, it is the developer's responsibility to offer a value incentive to get a potential customer to give them money. It is insane to me how high on copium some of their customers are that they actually try to justify this ugly behavior and find reasons why they have to pay more money.

Frankly, the only way I can see this going through is either to refund the difference in price between the regular version of the game and the "all included" version at the time of purchase, or to refund the entire purchase, depending on the customer's choice. Otherwise I see a class action lawsuit with similar demands coming their way.

OLED ensures you will have the best possible image quality and motion performance in most situations. Unless you're doing your daily work on the same monitor, the risk of burn in should be negligible.

When I was a teenager, F2P games were my lifeblood. I didn't have any money, so these games were the only ones I could really play. Nowadays I'm disgusted and lose interest in any game at the slightest hint of pay2win or pay4convenience. Because at that point the developers are actively incentivized to make the game less convenient, more grindy, or generally worse for the people who don't pay.

Showing my age, I recall they were well regarded during the CRT era although I never owned one of their products. There are the other usual business brands in that area too as well as some entry level gaming ones.

As said the only reason I'm considering 4k at all is that I could view my 4k video natively without having to go to my TV elsewhere. Using 1440p hasn't been a problem anyway as that is what I was using before: 1440p TN gaming display, but it is a really good TN! This is in part why I said I'm not tied to looking at IPS.

However, 4k would go above my original budget statement, and if I do that, I'm on the slippery slope where I look at slightly higher models and things escalate.

Edit: someone stop me. I'm now looking at a new gaming display, which would free up my old gaming display for use on the productivity system. I need more AFK time.

Tbh, there's just not much the monitor brands can screw up with displays like this, so there's not as much emphasis on 3rd party reviews.
iiyama is a reputable brand though. We just don't hear much about them anymore because they're mostly B2B these days.
100Hz is a nice bonus though, even for work monitors.

32" 4K might be worth considering for productivity. Best case you can use lower scaling for more screen real estate, worst case you use bigger scaling and have better text clarity.

    At 28", I'd say 4K generally isn't worth the premium over 1440p.

That is interesting. I would imagine it has to do with either magnetic resonance or the magnetic fields in the headphone speakers moving the microphone (Diaphragm..?) In the hearing aid. I do not have any problems with my Cochlear and headphones myself though.

What's also an interesting affect that comes from being deaf on one side is the inability to properly locate origins of sound by using Binaural location. I could in real life at least tell most sounds on the same vertical level as me by swinging my head left and right a little and my brain kinda processing that. But it isn't something you can do using headphones which renders any headphone surround sound completely useless.

Of course the cochlear changes that though as both ears are giving some information again in some way.

I appreciate the kind words and glad that you find it a neat subject too. I am trying to answer any questions anyone might have so feel free to ask away if you think of anything.

It definitely becomes less robotic with time. Also the sorta random pops, clicks and static goes away as your brain learns how to ignore them. At this point the cochlear does not sound like natural voice still. But the brain is so used to it I can't hear that it doesn't sound natural unless I focus on it as now it is kinda my new 'Natural, or baseline for hearing in that ear. Give it 10 years and I might not be able to even tell it at all.

Right now it almost is like a fan running in a room. You don't hear the noise from it until you focus on it then you suddenly can. But you don't focus for a bit and you don't hear it anymore again. That's the cochlear. It sounds weird only when I pay attention to it. It's weird to describe but interesting.

Also there is another interesting phenomena with the cochlear which is certain sounds are completely natural sounding. Something like a hiss of air being released from a tank, a clap or something can sound exactly as it does in my good ear but only with visual stimuli.

According to what I read that is because unlike with speech or music which takes a huge part of our brains processing power to decipher which also means we have to focus on it and the nuances of it a lot. A sound of a hammer hitting something, a bang or whatever is just that. It's not important really for out brain to listen carefully to it and as such the brain can basically replace the sound with a generic bang, hiss crash or whatever approximation without any loss of important information.

So in other words simply things sound more natural in the cochlear implant because the brain just kinda fakes resolution on them which it can't do for more important things.

Our brains do this with visual stuff too and especially memories. If I ask you to picture of a stop sign at the end of your road or a tree out front, chances are unless you have a photographic memory your brain isn't going to remember that exact sign or exact tree and instead replace it with a generic Sign or Tree.

Now if you need to visualize someone's face on the other hand it will be much harder as it can't just be replaced with something generic. And because faces and expressions are critical to communication again our brains re much better at remembering and paying attention to them. (Like speech.)

I also have Synesthesia though too. Where sometimes I hear sounds based off visual stimuli even though there is none. For example when watching a muted TV I might hear sounds like Gunfire, Claps, Bangs or such when there isn't any because the tv is muted. Or swear I can't hear faint talking like the volume is really low when again it isn't because it is muted. So that also probably has a big affect on how I process information with the cochlear too.

The sound sample was interesting. So does the brain learn to interpret the signals better over time and it sounds more natural, or does it stay robotic like that forever?

Filter for the specs you mentioned before, plus IPS as your panel type and get the cheapest model that has a height adjustable stand and has a flicker free backlight. There's basically nothing else to look for if your work is mostly word-based office applications.

You really don't need more than 60Hz for word work.

Sweat is 99% water, with a bit of salt and other minerals in it. The residue is likely just the salt after the water dried. It's not damaging in the short term, but you should wipe it away with a damp microfiber cloth because I'm not sure if it can cause damage on the anti glare coating in the long run.

    Glad to see progress! 🙂

Muscle increases insulin sensitivity, fat increases insulin resistance. Increasing muscle mass in general will help your body better regulate blood sugar and in general increase your caloric requirements.

Its more costly for the body to maintain muscle than fat, so your body will target muscle its not being used. Why its very important to do strength training when going through weight loss. The body won't target muscle nearly as much when in a deficit if its actively being stimulated.

The pro gamer move when it comes to recomp-ing is to start with hypertrophy based strength training and end with cardio. Use up all the powerful blood glucose for power while lifting and deplete your reserves to force your body to start targeting fat when doing cardio. In terms of cardio, inclined brisk walk is just as good as jogging and doesn't cause knee and lower back issues.

My two cents about BMI, its not a useful metric for a lot of people's body types. There's plenty of people, especially guys, who have slimmer frames but enough body fat to make them technically obese, even while being 'in weight'. Sarcopenic obesity is just as much of a problem and not as obvious (beside a skinny guy with a big gut who might border on overweight), where there's not enough muscle and too much body fat.

If anyone is still interested, here is a little update:

As some of you suggested, it seems that after seeing the initial results, I was over-motivated and pushing my body too hard without enough rest and nutrition to go along with it.

I've decided to reduce the calorie deficit a bit, which means I'm eating more, but I'm still in a deficit. I also started taking body measurements and regular photos to keep track of my progress. And in general, most of the advice you guys and gals gave me was correct. I have lost another 12 pounds since posting the thread, while at the same time visibly gaining a lot more muscle, and there is a continuous downward trend in my body measurements, showing a loss of body fat.

I have also cut back from training 6 times a week with 1 off day to a 3 day routine, but with harder workouts. That means cardio on day 1, weight training on day 2, and just rest on day 3, then cardio again, and so on. Not only does this give my body more time to recover, but it also fits better into my daily routine.

So no, I didn't permanently damage my metabolism by crash dieting. Still, I overdid it, cut back a bit, and everything is fine.

Stahlmann got a reaction from Tan3l6 in Matte or glossy?
I have never seen a glossy LCD panel before, but I have used a lot of matte LCD monitors. When I made the switch to OLED, I really started to appreciate the glossy finish. Colors have more pop, the picture looks clearer, and the mirror-like reflections aren't nearly as distracting as I thought they would be. You get used to it. Tbh, I'd still only think about the coating as an afterthought, because the underlying display panel is much more important. But all other things being equal, I'd prefer glossy.

Edit: Also, specifically for LG OLED panels, glossy will also result in deeper perceived blacks. It's another story on QD-OLED because their panel lacks a polarizer layer and LCDs don't benefit as much because they don't get deep enough black levels to begin with.
