Shifting goal posts. It's not a black and white view, it's people saying they're going to boycott and refuse to give a company money and then giving them money. Preferring a product over another is fine, but you're saying you don't want to give Epic money, so you're going to keep buying their games. It's a weak argument for not using EGS. Otherwise, you would just say "I prefer other platforms, thus am not interested in this one" rather than "I don't want to give them money, I'll buy their products."

I can't fathom why you think that's a black and white view. And then you say that you refuse to support Tesco, and won't buy anything there. Which, again, sounds to me like a boycott, and again, further invalidates your own argument. So far your counter arguments for it not being a boycott, are what could only be transcribed as boycotts. Any other rational mind that isn't black and white wouldn't give two shits that Tim Sweeney is a chucklefuck and just buy their product wherever they like, or prefer. But every instance you've shown has stated a boycott, followed by saying it's not a boycott. "I refuse to shop at Tesco. I'll buy their products to prevent them from getting my money."

I'm on 4G internet only from my home through an aerial fitted to the outside of my house. I live 5 mile out of my local village. I can't get anything better than 128k through my phone line (yes, 128k still exists).

I've worked from home since 2016. This week my internet speeds have plummeted off a cliff. Thursday and Friday I couldn't even play a YouTube video on 240p. I need a working internet connection to work and pay my bills. I've had countless "failed to send" emails on Thunderbird. Loading web pages has taken up to 15 seconds at a time, sometimes they just haven't loaded at all. I've given up on video calls.

I know some folks are angry at Netflix for the quality drop. I know some folks blame Netflix or the ISPs and are demanding refunds. But come on people, these are unusual times. The demands on our infrastructure during these times is completely unique. Chill out, wait until this over. Demanding you get full 4k TV, while our digital infrastructure is so overburdened, which can have the knock on effect of people unable to work from home and pay their bills... Well, it is like the toilet roll hoarding of the internet.

That's completely different. Now you're the one with a reading comprehension problem. The guy literally said he doesn't want to give Epic money. Not liking a product doesn't mean boycotting that company or brand. He's boycotting Epic, stating he won't give them money, and then immediately turning around and giving them money.

Saying you personally don't like Windows (Not MS, which is an important factor because you're specifically isolating a singular product, not the entire company) and therefore won't buy it, but will still buy other MS products is completely different from saying "I hate MS, I'm going to go buy their products to show them I hate them." One is rational, the other is idiotic. One is disliking a singular product, the other is boycotting an entire company but still giving them money.

No. That's exactly like saying I won't give MS any money, I'll just buy the Xbox and exclusively run Win10. If you didn't want to give MS money you'd be using Apple or Linux and a PS4. Saying you won't give them money and immediately give them money is stupid and makes your argument exceptionally weak.
"I won't buy their games because I don't want to give them money. But I'm still going to buy their games."
I don't know why you people think I have a reading comprehension problem.

In that case you need to boycott and flatout not buy any game with the Unreal engine, and good luck with that since it's the worlds most popular engine from both major developers/publishers and indie devs.

Put me down for another person who in 20'ish years of PC building, has never once tried to avoid ESD, and has never had a dead component on install. Heck, 90% of computers I've built, have been built while sitting on a carpeted floor.

Epic trying to become the monopoly is not competition. Something sweeney can't grasp is that taking a smaller cut makes sense if you don't offer many services. I use steam, gog, origin, uplay, itch.io, nutaku, dlsite, and on occasion even the windows store.

Also do remember that epic DENIED an indie dev who wanted their game available on steam as well as epic after declining the exclusivity offer. Yeah epic really cares about competition.

Do you mean by the difference in humidity?
ESD precaution that people constantly seem to ignore: touching something that is grounded every now and then, thus negating the need to buy any anti-static tools/equipment. And if you watch through Linus's videos you'll see that quite often he ends up touching something that is grounded (in addition to working in an environment that shouldn't encourage static).

I'm saying outright, its not as big a problem as its being made out to be. Certainly not one that is actually common.

I've found Linux to be snappier than every Windows release since the early 2000's. But then whenever I'm buying a new PC or laptop I've always had a quick Google first to make sure everything is Linux compatible.

If you're finding it slow, you can always ask for help. You might be missing a driver or have a hardware incompatibility.

I have an intense dislike of too much RGB.

That said, I had an old Gigabyte motherboard, either AM2 or 3? It had a single white strip that ran down behind the IO then along the top of the PCIe slot. It was nice having a small amount of subtle light inside the case. I'm not sure if that counts as RGB though.

Your current PC should last you a good few years. If you don't have a spare 8gb RX 580 sitting about, I'd use the 1060 right up until the point where I hit games the 1060 can't handle. Then upgrade the GPU.

Seems like you are trying to justify your actions with bs claims.

Nobody is forcing you to watch the videos at all. But dont act like your taking the high road by blocking ads so they dont get money from your view.

Either the video is worth your view or it isnt. The thumbnail/title should have nothing to do with it being a good video.

    Its how they make money.

Are you unaware on how business works?

In order to make videos they need workers. In order to have workers they need to pay them. In order to pay them they need to make money. In order to make money they need ads.

The only way to make money off youtube is through ads.

Theres a very easy alternative to avoid ads for dirt cheap. Its called floatplane.

So they are giving you two different options (one free and one paid) to view the content how you like.
