Assuming your desktop is connected via Ethernet to your wifi router, than this isn't an issue. Set up a network share and move the files that way.

I might be misremembering, but wasn't there a bit of discussion over whether the "service" they provide can be proven to have done anything?

I'm not aware of a (reasonably-priced) USB <-> SAS protocol adapter.

Using an external dock with a SATA drive is well within the realm of possibility though.

The PS4 originally came with a slow (reportedly 5400rpm) 2.5" HD and the system is designed around that. Putting in faster storage doesn't make much difference. I have a SATA SSD in mine. It hardly makes a difference to load times. I don't have the numbers any more as I did it many years ago but I'll see if I can find it later - might be somewhere on this forum. Because the original HD was so slow, the system heavily uses compression to increase the effective transfer rates. You hit CPU limiting almost immediately.

So basically if you want a big drive to store all the games, go for it. Perf really doesn't make that much difference.

    Edit: see new post below!

Any hard drive will support any file system. There is no hardware correlation.

TBH, this is a pretty standard rate of emailing for a marketing push, especially when you're trying to "convert" someone who already showed interest. These aren't unsolicited if you started making an account, and they're reminding you to finish it.

    My thoughts
Please don't make this about the hell divers debacle. Anyway this device will probably not be used by most normal consumer, its nice to see its better than previous generation by using full size hdmi instead of mini.
Its 1000 dollars cheaper than the previous generation and its about the same price as apple and samsung flagships.

    My thought process is usually:
    1) How long has it been since I used it?
    2) Would it be difficult to get another?
    3) How high are the chances I will ever need it?

If the answer to 1) is "a long time", the answer to 2) is "not especially" and the answer to 3) is "low", it goes.

They're connected to other 10Gb interfaces and negotiated a 10Gb link? There's no plain ol' Gigabit link anywhere between the client and the server?

115 MB/sec is about what I'd expect to see on an otherwise idle Gigabit link.

You know U.2 is not SATA, right?  Its just another PCIe connection like M.2 for connecting physically larger enterprise drives.
