You can't have an ISP in a vacuum, right.

So, lets persume you are familiar with networks.

You need to get connected to a backbone, or another carrier that will transmit your traffic. It is better to have multiple routes and connections to multiple different carriers.

Presume you are setting up a LAN, there is no difference. The only difference is scale. You need to register and buy a block of IP addresses for each user to have at their node, but you are setting up a LAN and connecting it to the outside world via another companies fiber backbone. Each home is a node, each node gets their own equipment (modem, router, whatever), that node communicates to your central location which has a direction connection and traffic is routed.

There is more to it, obviously, you need to assign an IP to each node (external IP registered from ARIN) and an internal IP for your internal network communication (I know my own ISP does this, because I've accidentally navigated to a work IP address while off VPN and gotten to some of their Ubiquiti equipment pages).

That's just a stupid basic understanding as I've never done that myself.

Now saying that, how do you pay for this, and that's the reason they aren't building out to your location. Are there enough people, willing to pay? Not just people, but what percentage would pay for that internet connection? Would it be enough to continue to pay the fees you'd have to pay, because you are connected to someone else and you won't have a network big enough to be it's own backbone (where you could have carriage agreements to carry other data in exchange).

I had a friend in a similar situation to you, and what they did was request a provider build out to their neighborhood, there were about 28 houses, and 13 of them signed on requesting it. The ISP ran the cost and proposed they each pay a certain percentage towards the cost of permits, trenching and running lines, and then sign on with a 3 yr agreement to keep the service. After which the service was available to anyone in the neighborhood. They did it.

It’s been massively blown out of proportion. The “uploads” to the cloud where thumbnails for previews and the security issue was beating apple to watch a stream from the camera through VLC but you needed to have the actual address which you could only find from the users account. Overall not a big deal but y’know how people like to overreact. People seem to care less about Google scrubbing all of your emails for advertising

Just to be sure you know that it isn't what people imagined, but what dbrand themselves listed as the parts of the kit. The $3 wasn't even to reserve, but to express interest. You do get a $3 credit on ordering, but again, you still have to order on a first come first serve basis with everyone else who wants one. Or you can email to get a refund of your $3.

I believe it is likely many fewer people would have put in their money had they listed their plans and what would be in the kit on release.

    This is incorrect.

The total price for everything is $99 dollars.

For $59.99 you get the Case, the Kickstand and a skin.

If you want the optional travel cover, and grips, you pay $14.99.

You would also need to now separately add the Screen Protector for $24.99.

The total price being roughly $99.

Previously, including today, the screen protector showed as part of the kit, but it was excluded.

Yes and no. They billed it as containing a certain set of items when they announced and took your reservation fee, and then announced the contents were not the same.

Personally annoyed over the screen protector aspect being "separate" now and their attitude regarding it (there were some posts by their brand accounts stating most people have the screen protector already, which wasn't asked in their survey they sent out a couple of days ago).

There are also people overreacting about it as well.

I wish they'd have given you the choice for the third item.

Case, Kickstand and Choose (Skin, Screen Protector, Travel Cover, Grips) in their base configuration before trying to hit you up for extra $$$.

I still do think their case and kickstand look the best out there, but I've no interest in the skin on top of the case.

I've watched that video earlier today and I don't recall it talking about what LMG's plans for Lab 1 are or whether or not they are buying the adjacent property to Lab 2. The video just introduces a bunch of the LMG staff, which is not what OP is asking. LMG purchased a building ("Lab 1") intending to use it for the Labs project, however after buying that building they purchased a larger space ("Lab 2"). Lab 2 also had a building adjacent to it that was vacant. OP is asking what they plan to do with Lab 1 building now and whether or not they are planning on buying the adjacent property. If the video does discuss their plans for Lab 1 building or whether or not they're buying Lab 2's adjacent property please provide a timestamp to where they discuss it. Also keep in mind that video was filmed over a month ago (prior to the LAN Event) so whatever said in the video may not be current.

@ltt_is_in_my_blood I think Linus discussed it on a WAN show a few weeks back but I'm not sure which WAN show episode it was, since then I don't think there's been any further updates. I believe they're still considering selling the "Lab 1" building. I don't think there's been any further updates on whether or not they intend to buy the building adjacent to "Lab 2" either. If they are intending to buy it there probably won't be an update until they sign for the property. Only Linus would be able to give an update beyond what has been said on previous WAN shows, and if he provide an update it'll likely be during a WAN show or maybe Twitter.

You mentioned the warranty shirt, thus you've implicitly mentioned the backpack, where the warranty issue and warranty shirt originated.

If you feel a shirt is making fun of you, you are taking it too personally, and my mention of my own taste in shirt is simply to state that while I do not like the shirt myself, plenty of other people do and they have spoken with their wallet. You can also speak with your wallet and not buy it.

NovaNightmare got a reaction from Boognoss in Linus messed up with the "Trust me bro Warranty" T-shirt
No matter what happens, people will find a reason to complain, it is actually quite hilarious. In one thread, some still go on about a warranty even though there is now an official one listed and no one received the item without the warranty. Here you are going on about a shirt that is utterly and completely irrelevant to anything, and is apparently selling tons of them, so whether or not your sensibilities are offended by it doesn't matter. People have spoken with their wallets.

In my own opinion, I do not care at all if they are selling the shirt or not. I'm past the wearing shirts with big printing on them portion of life. LTT is a brand, and a business that is providing content and products, and if the users of this content want the products being offered, they'll keep making them. Does it make it good or bad? Well EA keeps making Madden and horrendously monetizing it, but people keep buying them. Doesn't make it anything at all. It isn't worth the time of day if people want to buy that shirt, good for them, and if they don't, good for them too.

Just to add one other thing, that entire idea for the shirt was put up by another user and it became reality.

I just don't agree with your opinion for the most part, but everyone will find something interesting to like or not like.

You see his house and you go, oh, you are just showing how rich you are! I see it and go, wow, that is cool, I've never thought about doing that. I wonder if I could do it? Can I do it the same way? No, don't have a sponsored video, but the ideas are neat. I'd never thought, put my personal PC in a different location and run cables to different areas of my house.. I'd never considered a short throw projector instead of a TV, but that might be something I could do in the not too distant future. I'd never considered some of the home automation aspects either, but then I find I am always turning off lights left on by others from an app... when it could be automatic. All of these things are interesting.

All of the other stuff, that is hit or miss some things are interesting and some aren't, but there is a wide amount of people to make content for and it will just depend.

As for the "Intel Extreme Tech Upgrade" that is kind of a silly complaint. It is never shown as a review, it is shown as a sponsored upgrade for an employee, who won whatever their drawing is. These have been going on for quite a while, including before the current gen of Intel processors Alder Lake. Before Alder Lake came out, LTT constantly brought up problems Intel was having and went on about AMD being the winner at that time. They still did the upgrades. So if you somehow saw the sponsored video as a review... that is kind of weird and on you. As a viewer of the video, I find it interesting to see their setups, and see how they upgrade them. All of those are ideas, and tend to be relatable.

I do find the hawking of so much stuff at times a bit tiresome, but again, they aren't my friends putting on a show for me, their a business, with ads and products. It's a show, I like to put it on, sometimes live, sometimes later as I am working. It can be fun, or it can be boring. Depends on the topic, and I do skip some things I don't find interesting. Sometimes I like the products, sometimes I do not. I especially have liked most of their hoodies, but was very upset with the original Swacket pulling on the arms, didn't buy anything for a year, won't look at the second one either. None of that is enough for me to just abandon the stuff I enjoy.

Either way, even though I mostly don't agree with you, I don't think your take is as controversial as you believe, you'll be argued against by those with blind loyalty, and supported by those with blind hate. Reality is in the middle somewhere.

I also find it funny that you think your post would be removed on reddit... there is a ton of stuff over there criticizing them, especially over the whole warranty fiasco.

Sticky Password at the time I used it has an offer for one-time lifetime usage, additionally, you can keep your saved passwords local and only sync them on your internal network or not at all on the cloud.

I am a gigantic fan of 1Password today, but I also liked what I've seen with Bitwarden, which can also be local and offline to you - however that is more complicated.

So I often recommend Sticky Password to people who do not want anything to do with the cloud

I value GN's reviews and news, for they are well researched and presented.

But I was taken aback with comparing the sale of the "Trust me Bro" shirt to a fictional Artesian "reroll" shirt.
Introducing a commentary segment in the news.   ✔️ fine Expressing their opinion on profiting of customer concerns.   ✔️ good Substantiate their opinion with similar opinions from other sources.   ✔️ even better Showing clips of Luke's reactions on the WAN show.  ✔️ excellent Making up a fictional situation, where Artesian Builds sells a "reroll" shirt, including a "... and there is the reroll" clip. ❌ substandard Referring to an actual incident would have been more appropriate, in my opinion.
I even would have accepted "This behavior is as distasteful as pineapple on pizza."

NovaNightmare reacted to Harvey-Specter in Gamers Nexus calling out Linus for monetizing on his own controversy
I think he was pretty clear about the realities of warranties... He talked about how they're always worded in such a way that the company has a lot of flexibility to deny claims for basically any reason. He talked about how it essentially comes down to "the will of the company" and that he "has a lot of will" to take care of customers.

I used to work in an electronics store and had to manage contacting manufacturers on behalf of customers to get warranty repairs/replacements done, I've seen first hand how little a warranty means. This whole saga has really opened my eyes to how little the average person knows about how these things work. People are acting like a warranty is a magic pinky promise that guarantees that a company will "do the right thing".
