Shreyas1 got a reaction from Dutch-stoner in {ALL RETAILERS, USA} Oculus Rift and Touch Controllers $399
i think there was a post about cheaper oculus rift prices in tech news and reviews, so this will probably last a while

if they delay the launch by nearly 6 months and everyone goes for their competitors, I will consider the entire thing satire.

Shreyas1 got a reaction from BingoFishy in LTT got referenced in another tech video
I think he made a compilation of linus breathing on his other channel a long time back when he was still making fake videos.
Funny enough, thiojoe is the guy that got me interested in tech, after researching his ''methods''

I agree, putting it in the oven is dangerous. That's why I tried to find another way to get the same end result. It seemed fishy that the card could display parts of the screen and pixelate others.
Disassembling the backplate and pointing a hair dryer at it saved me 300 euro though, I would try that in OPs case before throwing it away. If it's a soldered pin that got loose like in my case it will melt the tin and it will make contact again.

Well you got lucky... I really don't recommend baking tho as its bad for the oven (most people use an oven) and there's no guarantee it will even work.

Shreyas1 reacted to RedRound2 in Iphone 8 will probably not have fingerprint scanner embedded in screen
The reason why they may abandon the fingerprint sensor is that they couldn't reportedly mass produce (and we're talking iPhone quantities) in screen fingerprint tech and also had other issues which made it inferior to the current 2nd gen touch ID like speed
Since they're going with a completely bezel less design this time around (offering highest screen to body ratio in the market), their only option would've been to place it in the back (which IMO is pain to authenticate when phone is lying flat, and while authenticating NFC payments) or the side where the reader wouldn't be very accurate due to it's rectangular button shape
They were planning on 3D facial recognition from the start along with touch ID, but now it seems they're only going with the former. It would have been cool to see an inscreen fingerprint tech, but I guess we have to wait another year

There's a chance it is. Apple hasn't commented on this yet, and if it is in the logo, that's pretty good. I doubt it will be in the oled unless Apple says so though.

Shreyas1 got a reaction from Triventular in Power supply died but not sure why
i dont think theres a limit. the problem is that those psus that come bundled are usually really bad (cheap capacitors, bad cooling, etc.). Remember, NEVER cheap out on psu.

Shreyas1 reacted to captain_to_fire in Samsung is making a smart speaker with Bixby, says WSJ
Sources: The Verge & Wall Street Journal
I can't wait for smart pillows and smart shoes that will let me run faster.
I don't know how will Samsung be able to pull this off. Reviews of Bixby can be described as "just fine" at the moment and can't compete with Google Assistant and Siri on voice commands just yet. They better not put up their photocopiers and redo a trashcan with fishnet stockings design just like what Apple did. Would they be able to compete with audio quality? I don't know since audio reviews of the past Galaxy S7 and now the Galaxy S8 are kinda lackluster probably because of a crappy DAC.

Nick please fix the formatting so it isn't painful on night theme users. It's better than dark text on dark background, but it's still kinda painful.

Shreyas1 reacted to AaronTypesStuff in Thank You, Linus
Hi Linus,
I'm not entirely sure if you get a lot of posts directly addressing you or not, or if they get read frequently, but I felt that I needed to let you know my story, because your channel has become something much more than a series of videos that air weekly, to me it's a crutch that helped me regain the grasp on my mental health. I hope you don't mind that this gets personal, but I want to share my story with you and to all that decide to view this post.
In the months leading past last March, I reached a very low point with regards to my mental health; I was suffering from serious depression and anxiety as a result of personal issues that had been dogging me constantly. I didn't know where to go- I was afraid to go to any sort of doctor and wasn't willing to talk to anyone about it because I'm naturally a shy person. I was being eaten up inside my mind and couldn't find a way out, and it was having a negative effect on my college work and general lifestyle, to the point where I was constantly trapped in a cycle my own negative thought, losing sleep and finding myself in a constant state on unhappiness.
For months this continued, and it got to a point where I had simply accepted the notion that I wouldn't be happy again. My family and close friends all tried their best to help me but it was never enough. However, one September evening I found myself at a friends house where the first episode of scrapyard wars just happened to surface as part of our youtube surfing. I had been a fan of you growing as a young teenager but had lost track of what was current with technology many years prior, but it piqued my interest so I kept watching.
This inspired me to start watching regularly the following week, as I had been interested to keep up with the series and others prior. This was the start of a domino effect- soon afterwards, my whole life became enveloped in tech and news surrounding it. I subscribed to the channels you run outside of LTT, keeping up with all the news and reviews you and your crew get up to as well as your original videos, and for the first time in over half a year, I began to smile again.
Not only did I begin to smile, but I soon began to shake off the depression and anxiety, brushing it off as an afterthought because I was too excited at the thoughts of saving up to build my own rig. I felt my whole life change with a new focus, and in somewhat of a cliché I began to once again excel in my grades at university and my family and friends all noticed that I was returning to my old self.
I realise this is going to come across as very bait-ey in an attempt to draw attention to myself, but I really wanted to share this because your content has changed me for the better. Thank you, maybe I can shake your hand one day, pending I catch a means of getting over to Canada.

Shreyas1 reacted to LinusTech in What is going on with LTT HQ
We did say our content would always be free and I have backpedaled on that here.
I think its it's an important distinction that this content is not of the same type as our normal stuff - the best analogy I can come up with is that it's kind of like bloopers or extras on the DVD release. No one expects to get that stuff when they stream on Netflix.
Not everyone will agree that that matters. Some people will still be mad.
But business realities cause us to change our course sometimes. In a span of months we had ~30% of our monthly revenue pulled out from under us last year. This year the sponsored video business is way way down for a variety of reasons including that there are just a lot more influencers than there were last year and there is only a finite number of brands. And we are not the most sponsor friendly YT channel out there.
I could just lay people off, but that's not the direction I want for Linus Media Group. And WHO would you have me abandon? People here are people, not "headcount".
All I can do is say "sorry", learn my lesson about ever making a 100% promise about our business direction, and move on.

Shreyas1 reacted to Big Head Tech in What is going on with LTT HQ
You know, people like you really bother me because you're so self centered and all about you. His office vlogs were some of his most popular videos. However they were flagged as no tech and buried some of his other videos because of it. He cleared mentioned that there and you dismissed it. Why would he keep exclusive videos on Floatplane? I doubt gaining a few hundred extra dollars from fpc would be more than 1-2 million views at $5 per 1k views. This is a strategic business move not a greed one. Check out my post about Linus's overhead. I would out money on it that he takes home less money than Jay, Kyle, Paul or Austin because he puts a ton back into the business and has a significantly higher cost overhead.
