SomethingDarkseid reacted to Slick in Floatplane Subscriptions & Migrating to Floatplane.com
As you may have heard we'll be moving all subscriptions off the LTT Forums and on to Floatplane.com. You will no longer be able to subscribe through the forum AND all billing agreements made through the forum will be cut off. At this time we request that all users cancel their subscriptions on the forum and start new subscriptions on Floatplane.com.

Subscriptions done through the forum have been a major accounting problem for a long time now as the forums billing agreements have all been with Linus Media Group instead of Floatplane media which is an accounting nightmare that we are going to try to avoid in 2019.

As a gift for dealing with the hassle of migrating things over, and to cover any time you had left on your subscription, we will be granting two bonus months to all creators that you are subscribed to on Floatplane.com AND you’ll gain access to an exclusive live chat emoji all on January 31st.

    Steps to migrate successfully:
    1) Cancel your subscription on the LTT Forum

Method 1, Cancelling through the Forum:
      Hide contents
    Go to this link: https://linustechtips.com/main/clients/billing-agreements/
    click view details(on the right)
    Click on view(on the right)
    Then click cancel(on the left)

These steps are correct for most people but sometimes the cancel button is sneaky and decides to be somewhere else or isn't there at all.. This is another reason we are moving away from the LTT forums as we can't fix some of the payments problems. If these steps don't work for you please move on to Method 2.

    Method 2, Cancelling through PayPal:
      Hide contents
    Go to this link: https://www.paypal.com/myaccount/autopay/
Scroll through your active autopays and click on 'Linus'.
On the right hand side there should be a Status row that shows 'Active'  Click the 'Cancel' Button beside it.
Click 'Cancel Automatic Payments' on the next popup.
If this fails for whatever reason.. Move on to method 3.

Method 3(Last Resort), Sudo cancel subscription:
      Hide contents
    Send an email to support@floatplane.com
Let them know your forum Username/Email and they'll take care of you. Just a heads up that the wait time will be higher than normal as we are receiving a lot of support tickets right now.

    2) Create or sign in to your existing Floatplane.com account, you can use a forum linked account, that's no problem at all.

    3) Subscribe to whatever creators you want to support. https://www.floatplane.com/browse

    4) Sit back and enjoy the content!

    5) If you had a yearly subscription – Please send an email to support@floatplane.com with your forum account name and your floatplane account name. They will make sure you get the time you had remaining on your forum subscription added to your new floatplane website subscription.

Yearly options on the new site are not available at this time but will be soon.

If all else fails.. Just send an email to support@floatplane.com with any relevant account names, emails, etc. and we'll have you taken care as soon as possible!

    Thanks!

Have you had that experience specifically with DesignByHumans, or just in general with online stores?

We're always happy to take feedback back to whatever site we're working with (at this time that's DBH), and if there's ever a situation where there IS an issue and their support doesn't live up to your expectations, please do let us know. We're happy to go to bat for people when there's a legitimate issue with one of our partners.

    Hey all,

I'm working closely with our new Merchandise Manager (who you will all meet soon...) on a crapload of new designs & new merch avenues... we will have some very exciting stuff coming for you guys in the next few months. As always, you can find the latest (including new TechLinked merch!) LMG stuff at https://www.designbyhumans.com/shop/LinusTechTips/

Today we wanted to get a bit of feedback from you... our goal for 2018 is to deliver new styles and designs that embody the passion that we all have for tech, and an association with the channel, but which can also stand on their own as interesting and cool designs. So, in order to create those designs and tailor them to suit our community, we put together a quick anonymous survey to get a better idea of your styles, preferences, and tastes when it comes to merch, and clothing in general. Your responses are greatly appreciated!!

I think I got everything... if you have any questions, ask below

The first step is to decide what you want your setup to be, as you'll need to know how many parts to order. There is a few different options, and once you've chosen, click on the parts list for your respective setup.

    1. Single Camera w/o hub server
Parts list: Pros Least expensive setup Cons Lower attainable FPS/res 2. Single Camera w/ hub server - *RECOMMENDED*
Parts list: Pros allows for future expandability higher attainable FPS/res more reliable vs. no hub Cons costs more (you have to buy a second Raspi) 3. Multiple Cameras w/ hub server - *RECOMMENDED*
Parts list: Pros higher attainable FPS/res more reliable vs. no hub Cons cost (lol, 2 cameras + hub is still cheaper than a Nest cam) 4. Multiple cameras w/ a desktop computer as a hub
This is a setup that you can build, but I haven't investigated it yet, so stay tuned on this.
My recommendation is to have a hub server regardless of the number of cameras to ensure the best possible image quality, but if your budget doesn't permit, a single camera w/o a hub server can still work decently.

You'll need to message @Whaler_99 when you pass milestones and he will give you the badges associated with said milestones.

SomethingDarkseid reacted to NoxiousOdor in Thoughts on a new F@H badge?
I know having my folding badge has opened all kinds of doors for me. All of my posts are well regarded and always pined at the top of the page. Every week LMG sends me a check equivalent to the my content number and I even got a raise at work. I don't know what @dizmo is talking about but having the badge is a clear sign that I am far smarter than your average member of the forums. Over the next few months I plan on acquiring all the badges and then replacing Linus as head of LMG.

Currently only using a OC'd 1080 on air. Usually use a OC 1080 Ti on water. I only Fold now and then. Started back up to keep my room warm overnight during winter.

Prebuilt computers have HDDs, they will feel slow regardless of processor, so people will always feel their current computer is slow or laggy and will want to buy a new one thinking that a newer and better processor will help, when all they need is an SSD.

You can enter any alias you want.

If you're going to be doing this on behalf of LTT, even though officially they have no links to it, then using the same or similar name to your alias here?

They will email you the Passkey with the alias of your choosing. Team Number for LTT is 223518.

    https://www.techpowerup.com/233966/amd-trims-prices-of-the-ryzen-7-1700-and-1700x

Good stuff. A $50 price cut for the 1700X makes it a really good competitor to the 7700K (price wise) and the 1700 is now $10 cheaper as well. Not much, but still nice. Lowers the barrier to 8-core goodness just a bit more. Now with the top-dog 1800X at $469 AMD has a really solid line-up, though the 1800X could still be cheaper to better fit in with the other two.

He may have made a mistake or you did something wrong. I don't imagine that Luke would just randomly ban someone if they hadn't done something wrong, on purpose.
