SirRoderick reacted to TimeOmnivore in UK government adds in age checks for porn
As far as I'm concerned, any and all porn that isn't actual, real rape and doesn't involve human minors should be completely legal to view. As for not wanting minors to have access to any of it - that's completely stupid and unrealistic in this day and age.
Don't want your young child to accidentally stumble across it? Do they have access to Google? Give up - they will see it eventually no matter what you do (even if you go as far as not giving them any internet access), so instead prepare how you're going to explain to them what it is and why they should probably avoid it until they reach a certain age, rather than just outright blocking it and vilifying it.
And if a teenager does want to watch porn - he/she will. Make all of the most popular sites require CC info? You'll find that a lot of normally obscure websites will suddenly rise in popularity. The only purpose this serves is to satisfy a stupid, archaic, and pointless moral compass. This doesn't help anyone, it encourages even more repression of normal sexual urges and makes pretty much everyone hate your government even more. None of these are good things.
As an aside, I seriously hate this whole "protect the children" angle a lot of these types of laws use to push themselves forward. Stop using a lack of parental responsibility to make my legitimate use of these services more pointlessly harder/more frustrating than it needs to be, which is not at all.

SirRoderick reacted to KuJoe in Can we have a LAN party in an Airplane?
It's possible, but you shouldn't do it. Be kind to the other passengers, they spent a lot of money to be crammed into tiny seats breathing in all the smells that come with tightly packed people in a metal tube. Adding more annoyances to an already bad situation is inconsiderate.

I just cannot imagine the staff on board allowing this, of course if it is really local like your just 3 people sitting next to eachother I don't think you would have a problem but the moment you start putting wires to other rows I think you would weird the staff out and they would ask you to stop your shenanigans

Sorry to be "that guy", but I just have to say: it's 'couldn't care less' ('could care less' means you do care, even if it's just a little bit).

SirRoderick got a reaction from Mutoh in Valve consults Total Biscuit & Jim Sterling
I would just like to say I appreciate both Jim Sterling and TB for their honest and pro-consumer coverage of the games industry, they are sorely needed.
Doesn't seem fair only the people with grudges tend to post about them.

I don't get your issues at all, at least Valve/Steam is trying something different and asking the people what they think, now if those 2 people got popular made by you, you then only have yourself to blame.
Would you rather prefer if Valve/Steam just does their own thing without asking for any opinions and then you can "hate" Valve all you want.
And if you think about it, your "issues" are just first worlds problems after all.

This thread shows me how superficial this forum got, hate just because of hate.
Fucking do your research on someone before judging him on some superficial shit.

All the examples you gave were for why you hate him as person not as game reviewer.
He put indie titles in front of people who whould have not heard of them. That alone is enough reason for me.
Can you please give us more qualified person for the mission??
I don't see anyone replying to posts but you. That alone says a lot.
Peace.

SirRoderick reacted to Humbug in Valve consults Total Biscuit & Jim Sterling
Hmmm I could be wrong but personally don't see him as sensationalist.
The latest example being his Mass Effect Andromeda video. He went through all the bad points and all the good points which he saw in the game without jumping on any bandwagon and blowing anything out of proportion (good or bad).

Funny how you think its weird they consulted the guy who pretty much single handedly showed greenlight for exactly what it was while creating its replacement.
You do know about Digital Homicide, right?

the IO shield is essentially only for looks and idiot protection.
it's not *necessary*, it just kinda makes your pc look like a horrible kludge job if it's not there.

SirRoderick got a reaction from Space Reptile in Germany bans children's doll over spying fears
You know that, per definition, an illegal immigrant is undocumented right? Which means they can't apply for housing or healthcare aid. Because they would need to be registered. So your taxes don't help them at all, your taxes only go to legal residents of Germany. In addition, those illegal residents are still paying taxes (especially sales tax). So really, there's an argument to be made for them to be net positives.
Lastly, good luck finding a country where the quality of life is as good as in Germany, you can really only downgrade. Especially if the people there are as distrustful of immigrants as you are, since you'll be one of those.

Asylum seekers are not illegal immigrants. At least use the correct labels for the people your argument is based on.
As for Canada: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/refugees/welcome/
Turns out most 1st world countries are inhabited by decent human beings that don't turn away refugees. Even Switzerland recently voted to relax citizenship rules.

But I have to pay for your university degree, so you can leave germany after finishing it? You are a welfare scrounger aswell, exactly like the people you are blaming on. Except, that these people are in DANGER.
Get your facts straight, if you call refugees "illegal immigrants" you definately have no idea what you are talking about.
Also a lot people can't be deported because their origin country doesn't accept them! What now? Start a war against these countries?

Nope, I'm Italian. That goes to show how common this sort of thing is. It could probably apply to the majority of democratic countries.
