X370 will not support 4th gen Ryzen (Zen3) and you will need to check if there is a bios update available in order to support 3rd Gen (Zen2). If choosing a 3rd gen CPU, my  recommendation depends on use case. What do you primarily use the system for? And what monitor do you plan on upgrading to past 1080p?

Regardless wait for launch and reviews to see if a upgrade is even necessary.

depends on which resolution and framerate you're planning to achieve, if you're looking for a 4K 60FPS experience then the 1700 would do fine, you can upgrade later if you find the CPU to be bottlenecking which is simple to check for.

    3. What is it that you don't understand with that you cannot cool a 1060 in such a small form factor, did you even look at the video? Also the life spand is going to hell when it gets that hot.

    4. Pulling from thin air LOL. You know why you have not heard that before, because it feels premium and that is what all the reviews look at, but the screw and the glue they use is utter shit.

    5. So you are one of those idiots that think that it is okay that you put something in a laptop, that will performe a lot worse than it should, because it thermal throttles, you guys are the cancer of laptop consumors, that should NEVER EVER BE OKAY. When you pay a premium and you can see that you have these things in it, then you should get the performance of those things. Would you buy a ferrari spider 488 and then say that it is okay that it only performs like a Citroen C1, that is what you are saying that you would be okay with.

Oh so all oh my arguements are not good, because I don't recommend a laptop as thin that can cool a 1060, you know why? BECAUSE THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE. get a old GS40 with a 970m or not I don't care.

You are so in love with that laptop that you cannot see all the flaws and just out right refuse to even listen to people who know what they are talking about. You know what, buy that shit and waste your money, I could not care less, you have shown how stupid you really are and I don't want to help you anymore.

SouthBi4ch reacted to HKZeroFive in Will an amd fx 6300 bottleneck a gtx 1070
    The CPU has two jobs:

    1. Logics (physics, animations and other such things).
    2. Drawcalls

Since the topic pertains to the matter of CPUs and GPUs, we'll focus on draw calls. Draw calls are the instructions that the CPU delivers to the GPU on what to render. As I've said before, the lower the resolution, the easier it is for the GPU to render those frames (thus, there's more frames) and the demand for draw calls increases. If we increase the resolution, the reason you're less CPU bound is because the number of draw calls decreases.

My argument is that the i5 6600K cannot keep up with the amount of drawcalls at 1080p when paired with a high-end GPU such as the GTX 1070 or GTX 1080. Only i7s or specific Xeons can.
The matter of i5 6600Ks bottlenecking high-end GPUs at 1080p has been a subject that's not widely explored by TechTubers.

But Linus is correct. The i5 6600K is still a very viable chip for gaming. It's only a very specific scenario (in this case, 1080p 144Hz gaming) that it proves to not be as effective as its i7 brother.

Some people prefer higher refresh rates over resolution. Especially if they're rocking a 144Hz monitor for games such as CS:GO and Overwatch whilst also wanting to play other titles on top of those.

Games do benefit from a higher clockspeed but in the case of 1080p 144Hz, you won't eliminate the bottleneck. Digital Foundry's own testing proved that when they overclocked the i5 6600K to 4.5Ghz, it still tied with the stock i7 6700K in most cases.
Right. I'm not denying that the i5 6600K holds a better price/performance ratio in comparison to the i7 6700K but I'm rather arguing the fact that it limits the performance of the Titan X OC. In games such as GTA V, Far Cry 4 and Crysis 3, we're seeing an average of a 10FPS performance gain with the i7 6700K over the i5 6600K that extends to 20FPS in some areas. For 144Hz gaming, it's best to remove the bottleneck and take advantage of every frame that the GTX 1070 can output.

It's also worth noting that stuttering is often a sign that something is being bottlenecked.

Thanks to the magic of google translate, I was able to find a few fairly good Seasonic units on the romanian site. There's this 550W for 260 RON and this 620W for 300 RON. If you want better quality and 80+Gold, then there is also a 650W unit by Super Flower (400RON).
Edit: Oh, and there are several lower end (but still really good) Super Flower units, for cheaper than the EVGA.
The lack of EVGA is kinda bizarre, there doesn't seem to be any graphics cards from them either.

SouthBi4ch reacted to frulica in How much power do i need?
VS series are garbage, you don't want to cheap out on the PSU, remember that... Not when spending that much on other components. Think of a PSU like a heart of a live person. It pumps electricity to all other components. Especially if you want to overclock, buy a nice PSU.

If you want to add another GPU, you need 750w.. You don't want to get near your max wattage, best to stay in the middle all the time if it is manageable. I will list you nice PSU's for you to consider that i know are trustworthy and reliable.

EVGA SUPERNOVA G2 is absolute recommendation.
Since EVGA doesn't manufacture its PSU, Super Flower is the name of company that is well known of building one of the best PSU'S around.

Super Flower Leadex GOLD 80+ Same tier and quality PSU as the EVGA SUPERNOVA G2(probably the same components under the hood). Super Flower is aviable in Europe(I'm from Europe).

If you can't get either of those, get the Corsair RMX or RMi series, just dont get the ones with only RM in their name because it is not the same thing, not even close in quality. Those are your options that have reasonable prices in Europe.

I personally would change that MBO for ASUS Z170-Pro gaming since i assume you are building a gaming pc, and that MBO has better audio chip on it(Realtek ALC892 vs ALC1150) not that it matters that much, but still, if you have nice headset you could get some benefit out of it if you don't plan to purchase DAC.

Seasonic tends to be more expensive in Europe than most other manufacturers, that's why i recommended him those.. There is no possible way that he can get same quality Seasonic as Super Flower Leadex Gold for the same price in his Country.

850w is also a nice option, because if you overclock everything, you must know that CPU, and GPU's are pulling way more than their TDP. I don't think that you will ever need more than 750w, even for SLI since technology is getting more and more power efficient(unless you consider buying an AMD card, because their TDP is always way higher, no matter what). I would personally get 750, but you may choose otherwise.

I fly like 2 times a year to my home country from the USA, I usually bring something back for my family members, I don't think they will give him a hard time with it in the carry on, but he will have to take it out for the TSA check and depending on the box it might not even fit in his, what I usually do is put the things in the back of the plane, I put 1 or 2 layers of clothes, then the items and the more clothes, I've taken glass things, some Wii, Xbox, laptops, no problems, just make sure he puts the clothes around for protection. Taxes depends on your country and if he declares it or not, I never declare my items and they never check so I don't usually pay taxes for them.

Edit: sometimes they open the luggage in the US if they see anything weird that they don't know what it is, I've had that twice and they never stole anything, I had the Xbox one time and 2 laptops the other time, so I wouldn't worry about that either.

If OP have money to buy better CPU, then by all means he should get i7 6700k since it's probbably the best CPU for gaming right now.

But i5 6600k and GTX 1070 will work just fine in most scenarios. There will always be some game that is CPU heavy and CPU will be bottleneck. Even if you would be using i7 chip

Even so, 480 jumps from everywhere from being toe to toe with the 970 to beating the Nano in some titles. Driver fixes with the usual AMD 3 week late spit and polish, and the 480 will most likely be steadily beating the 970.

What has the RX 480 brought to the table? Pricing my friends and thus in the near future very affordable rigs for everyone to solidify the PC master race as the ruling overlords of gaming. Yes, I know, there are a few birth problems like pci-e power draw, it did not beat the GTX 970 to a pulp and temperatures seem a tad high with the slightest overclock even for a reference cooler.

Let us be honest about things however, when mr. Bean buys his hardware he will not pray to the tech gods for an orgasmic overclock, he will buy the card and plug it in without even knowing what gpu-boost is. Next he will proceed to install the drivers, start a game and just be happy if it works. In fact just the achievement of plugging in the card and remembering the power chord is a huge step in his technological "know how". Most people with mr. Bean´s experience will however buy a pre-built PC and only resort to tampering with tech as a last ditch effort to save some dollars.

The RX 480 here in Denmark has caused prices to drop heavily on both the GTX 970 and 980, for the first time ever I can now actually build a very good 1080p gaming pc for 800 dollars (without externals), thats extremely cheap where I live. I bet you can do it a lot cheaper in the US with the release of the RX 480. (Remember the cheapest RX 480 costs at least 300 US dollars here).

Even if the RX 480 has some rather inflated prices around the globe I suspect things will settle down once the card becomes widely available, AMD and Nvidia fanboys can rejoice in harmony about one thing, a really decent gaming rig at a very affordable price. That is what AMD essentially has brought to the table even if you are a Nvidia fanboy, this card was never meant for serious overclockers and tech nerds given its price, it was meant for mr. Bean and his friends. Real nerds eat cat food for a year just to afford their GTX 1080.

PS: On a more serious note, my cat´s food is freaking expensive ... I could have had a GTX 1080 SLI instead of a cat..... *wonders about what to do with the cat*....................

    SouthBi4ch reacted to SteveGrabowski0 in RX480 a letdown?
It's an awesome card from one view, a letdown from another. For the midrange buyer it's an incredible card. It really is great to have a $200 card that is a legit powerhouse for 1080p gaming so people don't have to buy crap like GTX 960 and R9 380. They can actually get a card that will play the vast majority of games at 1080p mix of ultra and high while delivering a consistent 60 fps. I mean that's absolutely huge for the midrange buyer to not have to spend $300 any more on a high performance card. This card makes high-end 1080p gaming cheaper than it has ever been, and this is very much a high-end card for 1080p.

From the viewpoint of the high end 1440p/4k buyer Polaris 10 is an enormous letdown because of the terrible performance per watt after a node shrink. I think most people were expecting a card that used around 110W or so in gaming loads based on rumors and on the card having a single 6-pin power connector. What kind of stupid design is that to have a 165W card using power delivery that can only do 150W in spec? It's unbelievably disappointing to see AMD only catching up to the 970's performance per watt after a shrink to 14 nm when Nvidia had the same performance to watt ratio at 28 nm. It makes you wonder how they can go very far with Vega. I mean are they going to need a 300W Vega chip to compete with GP104? How the hell are they going to compete with GP102 then, or even GP100 if that ever makes it to gamers? Are they going to have a 450W Fury XX card that sounds like a jet engine?
