I'd keep 6800k if you're doing professional workflow like Video Editing and etc.,
 
I'd keep 7700k if it's only for gaming. Because of the clock speed.

Yeah, no problem... I just wanted to check that another player I know is VERY good with media support would play it too is all. But if you don't want to that's OK I guess, but other than re-installing VLC, and a newer version if you haven't checked too, is all I can think of.
What file format is it? and codec?
No it's very easy to use, just like VLC except even easier IMO, it has excellent support for codes etc too/

Seasonic Focus Plus are good options too. Most PSU fans will not turn on unless they reach some load like over 30%

i have the older version of this laptop and it is pretty good. Astounding battery life, handles chrome OS wonderfully and a pretty decent keyboard/trackpad

No, those are different sockets. You need a motherboard that supports Kaby Lake with a compatible chipset: H110, B150, H170 (those need a BIOS update to be able to support Kaby Lake CPUs) or a B250 / H270 (those support it natively).
