Canto666Hades reacted to Tedster in 32 Gb Single Stick Memory? Reliability? Memory clock?
Hey! We're both along the same lines at the moment.
I'm looking to build something around a 3600 to support up to 128GB.

I don't have much to say about the 32GB sticks, but judging by Buildzoid's reaction to these sticks, it seems pretty nice:

(I would assume that any 32GB sticks made now would feature those memory chips or very similar).

I just have the Corsair LPX 32GB x2 kit in my rig for a week. The chips are made by Hynix. I got the 3000Mhz CL16 kit, because the faster 3200MHz and 3600MHz kits aren't available here. G Skill has some 3200MHz kits, but the price is insane.

I overclock the kit to 3400MHz CL15, and passed the Memtest86 test. But eventually drops it to 3200Mhz CL14 for better stability. So far so good, seems to work well.

    Questions:
    1) I want to know everyone's opinions about using the new spec for DDR4 Memory, where we can purchase individual sticks of 32gb? Is this reliable? Has anyone else used these yet? Any brands stand out as the leader in RAM?
    2) I selected DDR4 - 3200 based on some reading about having the memory clock rate match the infinity fabric clock rate of 1600 mhz. Is this the correct choice for memory speed?

I am focusing my build around the Ryzen 9 3900x, and maybe the 3950x. I haven't decided. I do a lot of Python computational work and am seeking the high thread count.
I am also seeking high memory and would like to start at 64gb = (2 x 32gb) with the option to expand to 128gb  = (4 x 32 gb) in the future. Thus is my question regarding the reliability of this new ram spec. If it doesn't make sense to use 32gb sticks yet then I'll have to bite the bullet and get 64gb = (4 x 16gb).

    Vive gets my vote.

Raw Data is a fun game if you feel like being goofballs online.
Hotdogs, horseshoes, & hand grenades is a fun game, but won't be getting multiplayer.
There are plenty of others to try on Steam.

About the same in my mind.
I didn't like the Rift Touch controllers, but hopefully @Sakkura can chime in. I prefer the Vive controllers since they fit my hands better, but v2 is coming shortly which are much more interesting.
Having to wear glasses with the Vive, it feels very comfortable, though I will likely get contacts or surgery for overall comfort. I have the tether attached to a D-ring on the ceiling so that the tether stays an appropriate length and doesn't dangle on the floor.

They are basically identical in terms of specs. The Vive is a tad heavier and doesn't have built in headphones which IMO is good as the included Rift ones aren't very good. The Vive also has a bit better tracking and doesn't need extra tracking stands to do full room. I prefer the Rift controllers but the Vive ones are still great. Honestly they are very similar but I prefer Steam over Facebook

The games on both platforms are great, there is a few exclusives on both sides but nothing decisive... after trying both i prefer the vive but at the present price difference i don't know if the vive is worth it...

IMHO... Going so thin that you'd need an adapter for typical connectors is brain damage. Especially at that price point. Definitely think that a beefier laptop that had reasonable power, good IO including HDMI/Display Ports, Ethernet, USB 3.0 AND USB Type C, and etc. Extended battery life or even easy swap batteries would be the shit.

This wouldn't really be "first gen" , as maxwell is the first gen of cards designed with dx 12 in mind .

Also , the newer manuacturing process will be beneficial.

Open the console with "~" and then type in "PerfOverlay.DrawFps 1" 1=On and 0=Off as I am sure you figured.

Hey there Canto666Hades Welcome to the community!   Are you looking for internal drives or external ones?  For internal backup drives I would recommend checking out WD Green. These drives save energy, work pretty quiet and are designed for secondary storage and backups. Here's a link: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=rT9hjT .  I wouldn't consider storing a copy of your data on the same computer a backup, though. For external drives, what I would recommend, I would suggest either checking out a external HDD (either portable or desktop) or a NAS. Both can store your data from multiple systems but the latter one can be accessed by multiple devices at the same time and even from phones/tablets, etc. Here are some suggestions: WD Elements Desktop: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=OipSto WD Elements Portable: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=lFaKfc WD My Cloud: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=HsOXoC   I would be useful if you specified a bit what you are looking to do and get.   Captain_WD.
