Change over to Windows Storage Spaces Two-Way Mirror. You can move between computers etc and you won't have that resync issue.

That is just a limitation of the backup software you have used, most don't do it that way. At least not paid backup solutions don't. Windows Backup also does not do that either.

How heavily? Taking the top like-for-like models, standard 480 was 150W and standard 580 was 185W. This is pretty easy to cool given even a blower cooler is good for around 250W or so.

I had to look up the 590 thinking that would take even more power, but it actually was less than the 580 at 175W. I forgot they moved from 14nm to 12nm which offset that.

I have some AM2(+), AM3(+), FM1 and FM2 socket boards laying around. As you said, I might not even bother firing these up. Although they'll use significantly less power then the EPYC systems I have, they are 4 cores at most, run on DDR3 RAM at best but have the computing power of a potato compared to my Zen systems (EPYC and Ryzen). 🕳️

Depends what they are, if old Intel and more than 4 cores per system then can make a difference, if not then don't worry unless we get desperate lol. Even so probably best not to run anything that is costly to do so and next to worthless.

Could just get one going and run it for a few hours to get a baseline of what it would do then can math it out over 24 hours by X number of systems.

@leadeater OK, I'll give it a whirl. Does require some shuffling of hardware, getting networking in place and some other stuff, but it should be manageable.

I happen to have a number of pre-Zen AMD systems (bare: just board, CPU and RAM) in working condition, I suppose they won't contribute much, especially compared to my EPYC7551P systems. I doubt I have enough PSU's to power them anyway. Worth investigating?

There are 5 disciplines/events, they will either be CPU or GPU so anyone can help out even if only CPU since there will be something for you do to. Teamwork and coordination makes getting higher ranks in each work out the best.

Marathon is basically always a CPU only project and that is a good one to throw systems at and not touch for the event if you can't switch projects and manage them much.

The Pentathlon is an annual event for several BOINC teams to compete across five disciplines (five different BOINC projects) to gain points and win medals.  Several teams, but only one team comes out as the winner.  The event last for over two weeks.  If you up to the challenge, come on and join the team in competing in the pentathlon and see if your hardware can handle the heat.

Honestly contact an IT service company to come in and assist. It will probably cost you somewhere between $3k to $10k but it'll be worth it to get the issue fixed. You can point them to the above post with the information on how to do the recovery if they aren't certain on how to do it.

Just remember while an IT professional may have never done something like this before they have the experience to look at the information and have confidence in how to do it and resolve in problems along the way.

Qualcomm has taken a couple of tries at making Snapdragon chips for PCs. This is definitely more promising, though, since it sounds like the company has seen what Apple did and followed suit.

With that said, Qualcomm is definitely thirsty here, so I'll be cautious about the Snapdragon X Elite (and X Plus) until we have some testing beyond the company. I don't think any performance gap would be quite as cavernous as some fear, but it might not be an M3 buster in practice. The big question is whether or not Windows and apps have improved to the point where ARM truly feels quick and well-supported.

Your claim makes no sense. No one just charges premium and everyone's like "yup, all fine". You earn the right to charge premium and EK has always been the premium brand. Guess what, premium brands charge premium prices. People also forgot how copper prices increased through years and how machining specific blocks simply costs more.

As for EVGA, do you realize EVGA was actually making the "NVIDIA" branded graphic cards for NVIDIA back in the day and that it was known as brand with toughest PCB's and power delivery circuits? In similar way how Sapphire has been making "Built by ATi" back then. Also your warranty claim makes no sense. Last thing any company wants is for most of their products to be processed through warranty. It's just absolutely worst for business. Either you lower the warranty period and risk people avoiding your products or you raise the warranty to attract customers with longer warranty and ensure most of your sold products survive warranty period without any need for service. This is the best outcome. But if something goes wrong, users have the peace of mind warranty will cover their expensive graphic card and as far as I know EVGA has always correctly dealt with warranty claims and was actually know to be very "pro consumer" oriented.

Since when is that a "finish" issue? Btw I don't even dislike that look heh. I think it's pretty bold to proclaim the entire range of products is garbage and bad because they don't polish finish areas you don't see and are not part of the cold plate either when everything else is good and additionally some people actually like those tool mark finish (so long as it's patterned nice, eh you get the gist).

Not saying it's unfair to expect higher grade finish on those areas for the price though.
