It's still running at 949 Mhz, don't know what to do
EDIT: suddenly its working. Must have needed a few restarts because I changed nothing. Thanks anyway, you have solved the problem

Temps under load? That's a pretty aggressive power limit increase, your card could be throttling to stay under 91 degrees, especially if it's a blower.

uninstall Afterburner.
DDU your drivers.
install drivers again (I won't say newest because they're probably bugged)
*don't* install Afterburner again.
test it. use hw monitor or GPU-Z to do so.

r1Ns3 got a reaction from Mark Kaine in GPU Not throttling up, weird bug
Hey all,
For some reason, as of yesterday my GPU refuses to go above 948MHz core clock. I use a GTX 980, which normally clocks to way higher on its own. I use MSI Afterburner, and have the following settings.
I can clock it down if I want to, it will go to 500Mhz as soon as I tell it to, but it will NOT go above that cursed number. I have tried updating GPU drivers, reinstalling MSI afterburner and tried using EVGA precision X, same issue there. The memory clock seems to change fine. And yes, I did try to see the numbers when I play GPU intensive games, it stays at 948Mhz and my fps gets murdered. It doesn't even reach close to the card's core clock at like 1250. What can I do??

I don't think there are 1080p 144hz IPS panels near 250 AUD, so TN is the only option(most csgo professionals use TN panels anyway, because 240hz. you don't really play that game for graphics)

r1Ns3 reacted to R3ep3r in Asus UX310U Not Powering up, *deep sleep*
@r1Ns3 have you tried to remove the battery from the laptop, wait a few seconds/minutes and then try to start it up, only plugged at the electricity? (Without the battery inside it)

r1Ns3 reacted to hex4 in Does anyone know that windows 10 is 100% free?
Well i have installed Win 10 like 5 times now on this same PC... lol never needed to worry, although i have a MS account, i got free Windows from a pirated win 7.
I originally bought Win 7 but the key ended up black listed after 3 installs and it was a bought x86/x64 full version, pissed me off so i was not wasting my cash again and just pirated Win 7 as they already had my money, upgraded to 10 for free, no issues.

r1Ns3 reacted to ShadowCaptain in Reduce background noise on blue yeti?
microphones do not work that way, and even if you set a "minimum" level, as soon as you start talking the background will come back in
you can use audacity to "analyse" a section of background sound and it can be deleted from a recording, but not during live use
The mic doenst have a low pass filter, and even if you added one via software, it could also cut off some of the bass in your voice etc

Yeah, you're good. Unlike most people, you've picked a good PSU.

Try performance mode, the thermal paste on there actually isn't bad. Always good to have a tube of MX-4 laying around though if you are a hobbyist. Play with fan profiles all the way up to 2100rpm if you want. 900, 1200, 1500, 1700, 2100 are good values for a fan curve. Make that fit your personal preference of temps vs. sound.
My fan curve runs from ~1200-1700.

r1Ns3 reacted to Oshino Shinobu in Can you guys check to see if everything is compatible.
The CX series is bad for high power draw systems and overclocking due to some quality issues and temperature tolerances. For lower power draw builds like this, it's perfectly fine.
Also, EVGA brand units like the 400W W1 PSU which is absolutely terrible (and the rest of the W1 units and the NEX line). If you're going to recommend brands, be specific to the models. (XFX uses Seasonic units exclusively, so they're generally okay)
