1. Do a checksum on the ISO you downloaded.

2. Follow the instructions from the distro web site again.

3. Go to bios and turn off windows 8 features before booting. These features are called things like fast boot and one may have an option for "other os" or something similar

Hey all,

Need urgent help :( Ive been attempting to make a Live Kali Linux USB for ages now, I have tried 3 different USB's and none of them have worked. My laptop is running UEFI but after changing the boot order it fucking runs windows anyway?? :(

my USB is 4GB and I have used RUFUS to get it to work but to no avail.

What did i do wrong? I have tried both NTFS and FAT32 formatting.

How are you attempting to create this boot drive?  What steps are you taking?  If we know what you're doing and what you've done, it will be easier to give targeted information.

1. Do a checksum on the ISO you downloaded.

2. Follow the instructions from the distro web site again.

3. Go to bios and turn off windows 8 features before booting. These features are called things like fast boot and one may have an option for "other os" or something similar

4. Do not install Kali Linux to hard drive it is a rubbish os for normal use and is full of dodgy stuff which could be used against you.

Some advanced Web development courses are including tools from Kali in their lessons now. Kali isn't required of course but it's a live cd which is easier for that situation

Not to mention there's security courses, home labs, and other professions which render Kali Linux a useful and interesting distro...but I wouldn't want to run it as my main.
