    Summary
A group of academics have joined a legal battle in India that has pitted those who believe in free access to knowledge against powerful corporations that control half of the world’s publishing business. The case being heard at the Delhi High Court could have international ramifications as the debate around open access to scholarly work has intensified in recent years. The court will deliberate on whether it’s legal for researchers and students to use the Sci-Hub and LibGen websites, the self-proclaimed digital “pirates” trying to disseminate scholarly literature to whoever wants it.

    My thoughts
I think, we need to settle this quickly and personally I don't want either of the services to get banned. Heck, I even wonder why did scholars pay to publishers to publish their articles ? they get nothing besides citations if their journals/work has been used for something in another study. They could have done something similar themselves by hosting it on say Github or another website of their own. Also this would add to the copyright infringement laws that knowledge should be free and quoting text from scholastic journals should not be classified as copyright infringement. Honestly, I just want the judges to be sound minded and give decision in favor of Miss. Elbakyan, lets hope the best Indian Judges can be pretty random.

Also the articles cost a lot of money, for some context 1 USD  = 75 INR, so say you wanted to purchase access to a 30 USD article its 2655 INR (18% taxes called GST) and that's a lot of money in a developing country like India where the per capita income is just around 95000 INR so you really think a person will be able to afford access to the article ? and before you guys ask, lots of colleges for higher education are government run hence the fees is subsidized in some form.

Both the dynamic and the condenser setup sounded worse than some cheapo USB mics I've heard.
You're not making a very strong case for separate audio interfaces here, an AT2020 USB for instance would sound better and for less money.

There's better USB mics than Blue Snowball or Yeti.

Why would it matter what OTHER people do? Facebook is about keeping up with friends, so if you feel that your friends are the kind to call the police for a Facebook outage... well that's on you and your social circle.

But it sure feels like the majority are like that.  Or at least almost that bad.

To all the people thinking that those who hate facebook are just weird: this is why.  I imagine it just filled with nothing but people like this and that only people like this would use it.  Is that an accurate pov?  Probably not, but there's your explanation

If that's true, it's very sad that people consider that to be an emergency. I mean come on.

Equivalent of YouTube going down. I mean yes it sucks, but it's not a legit emergency.

Facebook is useful for keeping up with science or tech based pages. It consolidates everything into a nice feed.

It just recently got out of beta I think. But my friend recommended it to me (and it has decent reviews). But when I downloaded it there were multiple apps recommended that claimed to do the same thing. So far I like it because it doesn't bug me every 2 secs with new messages and I can actually turn off notifications if I want.

Double checked my phone - it's DISA (not Discas lol)

WoahWoahWoah... Backup a sec here.... There's a 3rd party app that I can used for FB messenger that doesn't require FB or Messenger to be installed on my phone!? Why am I just now hearing about this!?

I had FB uninstalled for months. The only thing I really use it for is the messenger app (which works without needing to install FB). Recently I downloaded Discas (idr how it's spelled) and I uninstalled Messenger since that app supports it. 10x better.

FB is 90% Buzzfeed videos/articles and stupid quotes now, messaging is the only useful thing IMO

One could say that you would have to be a pretty big loser to really give a crap what other people use online, social media wise...
