it is REALLY hard to hurt your system from heat without overclocking.  Obviously it happens sometimes to people, and we all hear about it, but remember that most people on here are way better at listening to their systems than the average user.  The fact that you asked this question in the first place tells us that you pay attention enough to keep yourself from frying anything.  Plus, most hardware is designed to shut down before it burns up.

I didn't plan on getting a 4000 series chip. I meant that when the 4000 series of CPUs launch, the ryzen 3000  lineup will inevitably drop, allowing me to get a 3600 for sale. Sorry for the confusion .:P

Could be the ram and board are not getting along with each other. Try 1 stick and see how much it reserves. If there is any memory allocation in the bios for onboard graphic, try disabling that or set the ram size to 0.
    And update the motherboard's bios.

Are you sure you have selected SATA AHCI mode in your bios/uefi, instead of IDE mode?

It technically writes to the BIOS chip to reset the settings every time you do it, but if you're constantly at default values, there's nothing really changing, so you're not really wearing anything out

If you are talking about the jumper pins, no.  If you are talking about removing and putting it back, no.  If you are connecting the positive to the negative side of the battery with a wire, yes damage can/will occur

It’s nothing to worry about. You just rewriting the BIOS chip. If your talking about 10-20-30 times, no issues. If you have a fascination of BIOS reseating and are talking triple to quadruple digits, yea maybe that would start to Cassie BIOS writes. But even then, it’s likely find.

    TLDR, should be fine

    Hello,

so I've been thinking a lot recently, does frequent shorting of CMOS battery actually causes any damage in the long run? By damage I mean any kind of aftereffect like degradation, power loss and overall shorting lifespan. I've been searching a lot for any kind of specific information about that, since I've been overclocking a lot recently and a few times I had to short jBAT1 pins to reset the configuration, but everywhere I looked there were more information about the process of shorting and not enough about the effects 😁

Thanks! The Fractal Meshify C looks pretty nice and it seems it will be a great solution. They even have it close to me! Finally some good luck

a case with a mesh front panel is a safe bet, maybe add in a couple cheap 120mm fans for good measure.

You probably won't find more airflow in your price range.  It'll take a 170mm high cooler, the Pure Rock is 155mm.  and you have a choice of either a solid side panel or 2 types of tempered glass.

Buy even a cheap CoolerMaster Hyper TX 3 or 212.. temps will fall massively.

If it is an i7-3770, and not a i7-3770K, it will not have been OC'd as they typically are not capable of that. i3 cooler will not be enough as you have more cores, more amps, and more heat in an i7.

I'm 50% sure it's the PSU - FSP have very low quality units and this one doesn't appear to have 80+ cerification - if it's old (2-3 years) caps might have degraded quite a bit to the point where they are unreliable. Test with a different PSU if possible.

EDIT: Make sure all drivers and windows updates are also installed. I remember having 2 hard crashes in a similar fashion in Witcher 3 before I updated my driver to the latest one. It could also be a corrupted save file (like mine) but that would only explain things inside games. Check the SMART chart for your HDD to make sure it isn't dying.
