It's not unlikely. He posted a picture of a slide from their presentation also linked. The iPhone 11, Pro, and SE2 all use the A13 chip while the 2020 iPad Pro is on the A12Z. They are also talking about their new macs running iPhone and iPad apps natively since they are on the same chips. So it's not really unlikely, it's exactly what they are doing.

Nah, it's more complicated than that.

Sony isn't just using NVMe SSDs like the ones you can buy now.  They offer even faster transfer rates on a basic level (5.5GB/s versus around 3GB/s), and there are also special architecture and compression methods that improve things further.  RAM is another story, although it's important to know that there will be gobs of bandwidth and less overhead.

While I wouldn't be surprised if Sony was involved here, there is an actual reason to use the PS5 as the target instead of a PC.  The same thing that makes PCs great for flexibility also hurts the absolute potential performance -- you're beholden to standard architectures, off-the-shelf operating systems, that sort of thing.  Don't get me wrong, a PC with a fast CPU, lots of RAM and a good NVMe SSD will still accomplish a lot, but there are some areas where the PS5 and Xbox Series X will actually come out ahead for a while.

Comparison from Engadget. They seem very similar with XB a bit ahead.

To be fair, Geforce Now isn't really a rental service, as you buy the games from their respective store fronts and actually own them if you log into the service on another PC, as much as one can own a digital good. You're paying Nvidia for their servers. Overall it seemed pretty good and a win for everyone, as the store fronts got to take in the money on the sale of the game, the person actually owns their copy, nvidia gets money for letting you use their servers.

I have to assume though with Activision's recent deal to stream their esports through youtube that they worked out an exclusive deal with Stadia too. I suppose though could try and do their own streaming service but that doesn't really seem to be their usual M.O.. Till recently they weren't really interested in selling their games on BattleNet and were fine selling on Steam. They do love signing deals that make them more money though like CoD exclusives or timed exclusives to platforms.

Reminds me of the Gigabyte Brix a bit. I also think the Xbox One X is capable or running some AAA games at 4K 30 but they are few and far between i think they are usually around 1440 and up scaled.

LostElric got a reaction from dalekphalm in Borderlands 3 will be exclusively on the Epic store for the first 6 months
I would say the difference is almost all streaming video services have a cost associated to them, lets say a barrier to entry. EGS is free, there is 0 cost to you to make an account with them and shop on the store. Maybe time but that would be spent at other stores as well so i don't consider it a factor in this case. So BL3 was going to cost $60 on Steam and will probably cost the exact same on EGS so really you're just pirating to pirate. Not because it's split over services you can't access without a cost.

Aren't they literally competing with every other digital game distribution platform?  2k and Gearbox never said they weren't going to make the game unless Epic gave them money. They made the game Epic gave them an offer that no other platform was willing to do. Vale, EA,, Ubi, Battle.net all could have made offers to to distribute the game, they didn't. All of these platforms are in it for the money just like any business.

From reading the quote, it's not about fast internet speeds but rather that they aren't disconnecting infringers. Though my general understanding is that the Six Strikes agreement isn't in place any more.
