General rule of thumb is get a good cpu and an SSD and then pump your budget into your graphics card.
Would probably go for the 2070 super if you have the money.

Definitely ignore the 2060 since that won't push 144fps at 1440p.

Realistically, if you're going for 144fps, the 2070 super is your best bet. I somehow doubt you'll get 144fps in all titles at max settings but dropping AA a notch or two can make a big difference.

Probably going to be an unpopular opinion but Intel might be a better idea for high frame rate builds. Intel performs better in 1080p high fps builds.

What do you want to do with the 4K monitor?

Yes, you can output to a 4K display but you won't be able to play games at that resolution.

Yes. Don't try to game on it though. It's decent at 720p, okay at 1080p low but don't push it.

if purely to browse the web and watch videos on youtube or hulu/netflix, yes it will be just fine. For gaming at 4k, not a chance.

you can keep the HDD, Case and PSU (if you go for something as powerful as gtx 1060. It could probably handle a 1070 but I like to be extra safe with no more than about 50%-60% load on PSUs

Everything else is pretty low specs and would better be sold off to supplement the upgrade.

    Hope that helps

You said you need it for gaming so I would upgrade to:
GTX 1060 6gb + OS ssd (120gb/240gb) if you can afford it together.

SSDs give a whole new experience when it comes to startup and general usage so definitely worth at least $50 investment once.

I've got both 480 and a gtx 1060 6gb and despite the 480 technically giving a bit higher frame rates (the new 580 would be even a small bit faster) think the 1060 is superior for the following reasons:
    * 1060 is cheaper
    * 1060 is more efficient
    * 1060 gives much less heat (I have a EVGA SC 6gb (1fan) and it runs up to about 60*c...)
    * Impossible to get 480/580 right now because of crypto miners, (I know, I'm doing it too)
    * Drivers are simply better no matter what people say.

The most important thing that most people don't mention is actually the fact that 1060s just have a smoother experience. Even with 1-2% lower frame rate, it's almost as if the 480 is "sluggish" or frame rates vary a lot for example between 50-60fps which is noticeable when playing faster paced games.

It's hard to explain this exactly but I'm sure most people who have used both AMD and Nvidia know what I mean.

After all, go with what you can find because right now it's hard to buy a 1060 and 580

This is cheaper and should perform the same.

Very very tight budget for any adjustments at that price.

    Comments:
Ideally you'd want 2x4gb ram sticks (it will only run in single channel with 1x8 which may see 1-2% performance reduction in some games). If you can spend another £10, switch the ram for 2x4gb.
Don't spend more on a different gpu model, it's not worth the extra performance.
My brother in law has that exact 1050ti from zotac and it runs his pc really well at 1080p. Only reaches around 60*c at load so extra fans definitely not needed.
Upped the HDD to a faster WD Caviar Blue. You can save a few quid if you downgrade that again, up to you.
Do not under any circumstance spend so much money on a case.
A budget build like this doesn't need high airflow or super high end component space.

    Hope that helps!

Try go for something like an gtx 1050, h110 mobo and Penteum G4400 or something long those lines
The key is to not overspend on the CPU+mobo and get as much as possible out of the gpu.

Can find rx460 for pennies too.

If you go used, could try a 1050ti.
Sadly you won't get yourself a 470 since they are in high demand for mining.

I would sell the old RAM and your pentium and get something like a 6500.

750ti is last gen.  Usually the choice is between a 1050 ti or RX 470, depending on the price you can get them at.

I usually prefer the 1050ti in this case because it will play nicer with low end CPUs and PSUs, but the 470 is sometimes cheaper and a better performing card all around.

A 1050ti will very likely not get bottlenecked, I'd say it's just right. Either that or an rx460, though I'd stay away form the 750ti if you can get the 1050ti.

You should get the 1050 ti. Bottleneck means you get the most out of your CPU. (in this example with this bottleneck) And it's way better, so you might be able to use it in the future.

A 1050 ti will be a great pairing.  I'd get it over a 750 ti, even if only for longer driver  support

    Andrew Sh got a reaction from m0k in Should I replace my DDR3 1.5v to 1.35v DDR3L?
Ok well firstly people are looking at this wrong.

It's not only the Mobo that needs to be taken into account, it's the CPU.

From one of your recent posts I see you got a Pentium G4400 which is rated as follows:
    Memory Types DDR4-1866/2133, DDR3L-1333/1600 @ 1.35V

DDR4 is usually 1.2v if I'm not mistaken.

Putting in higher voltage ram will likely damage the CPU in long term heavy load situations.

Wouldn't worry about it short term if you've been using it a while but for your own safety, I'd sell/return that 1.5v ram and replace with 1.35v asap

Don't. That seller has just started and priced this fury much lower. I've seen this before. They'll likely ask you for payment outside Amazon. If payment goes through amazon then you're ok and can claim it back if its a scam. If you pay outside amazon, you lose your Money

These days the bang for the buck value of both teams is good. 1060 is head to head with the 480. IMO both fury and titan are rubbish. Fury lacks the vram to be considered a high end GPU, titan is overpriced AF. The fight is at the mid range and both teams have good offerings. At this time its looking like AMD - better driver support, nvidia - cooler and more efficient. Its a back and forth all the time
