sure but its a 2080TI and im on 1080p, and the performance of it bugs me, its really annoyingly slow even for 1080p.
So that also contributes to higher expectations on higher resolutions.

i have higher performance expectations for a GPU at those resolutions. A 3080ti/4070 wouldnt cut it for me on 1440p or 4k.

I personally wouldn't bother upgrading unless you get it for a killer deal, if you're looking at cards in the same generation.
The best 40 series card is the 4090.
I'd avoid AMD cards if it were my build, in my experience they tend to have more issues than Nvidia cards as far as drivers are concerned.

Is there a particular reason you want to upgrade?
    What monitor are you running?

If all games within next 4y will run like Starfield those cards are already obsolete.

So having a requirements like that is kinda pointless imo because we dont have a working crystal ball.

    But for real now...
Yes, these cards are nice and should be fine for 1440p for foreseeable future.

ehm no, the opposite got confirmed on computex, 14th gen will be raptorlake refresh on same plattform with some revamped z790 boards that already got shown on computex. And release is Q3 2023 fyi.

counter-strike 2 will have reflex support. But unless we get much faster CPUs, to alleviate the bottleneck, i guess you shouldnt worry to much for this title.
Especially not when you play on a really low resolution below 1080p.

the good thing about reflex is that you dont have to worry about playing on low settings or low resolutions just for lower inputlag. In alot of titles resolution/higher settings do alot for visibility.

Is that B-die? Looks like decent OC. I run two kits of 2x16GB (4x16GB) of Micron E-die and those are all dual rank sticks as well so OC is quite difficult and I really can't go much lower with the timings but I do have some crazy bandwidth benefits just from the extra ranks which makes up for the looser timings.
Depending on game the performance benefits obviously vary quite a bit. The same games where the extra L3 cache on the X3D gives most benefit also benefit from faster and lower latency RAM and the games that don't really benefit from the L3 cache don't benefit that much from the RAM OC either.

    Quite reasonable for 1900MHz

but 1933MHz needs above 1.1V which is a ridiculous jump just for 33MHz and basically no performance gain.

yes its 2x8GB B-Die, the kit was a crucial part for deciding to purchase the 5800x3D, since Dual Rank and Single Rank kits only make a very small difference in performance. Id probably still be on my 8700k if my z370 board wouldnt have started to have "socket issues".  It was just cheaper to buy a b550 board and a 5800x3D instead of hunting for a decent used z370/390 board. And its a very noticable upgrade aswell.

However, you are describing exactly how it should be. All games that benefit from RAM OC obviously benefit the most from more or faster Cache and vice versa. If they wouldnt scale with cache, they wouldnt scale with RAM tuning either.

so considering the results of 3800cl16 vs 2133cl15, id say the benefit of RAM tuning is indeed very limited 3-4% perf difference from literally slowest to maxed out, and most of it comes from the higher IF clock... in my case 13FPS gain (3%ish) for a whole day of effort... and hours of stability testing. (not completely maxed out obviously)

I don't remember exactly but it was either the 730 or the ones before. And I think they did not do a full release but there should be some going around.
They are not minimal. The X3D CPUs can't really handle voltage increases. As I said, even on stock 1.25V the CPU already can hit over 90C even with a 360mm AIO, increasing voltage does not help at all.
Also, the CPU is power limited, you will actually hurt the performance by increasing voltage.
Also, "undervolting" by setting the Curve Optimizer offset reduces the voltage during load and increases the clocks and performance because the CPU is no longer hitting the power limit and because it's running cooler so it maintains higher clocks easier.

I also think the bug that allows the voltage to be controlled is for the 7000 series not the 5000 series. Also, der8auer instantly killed his 7000 X3D CPU on LN2 by just applying 1.55V in the BIOS, there was no load on the CPU and it was on LN2. This voltage is nothing too crazy for the non-X3D CPUs, especially on LN2.

Still, the voltage is pointless without multiplier control and BCLK cant be pushed far enough for that to matter anyways.

It's unnecessary hassle that is irrelevant outside of chasing benchmarking scores. If you have PCIe 4 capable system you may as well just use it. You get far more performance from tweaking your DRAM than from BCLK overclocking a 5800X3D. You need to be quite a bit lucky to get more than 104MHz BCLK for it to be worth it as 4% increase is nothing of significance for daily use. That's why I keep saying this is not relevant in any way to this topic.
Also it's not just the case of having PCIe but of how many devices you have connected. If you have 5 drives it's way more difficult to push BCLK than when you have just one for example.

No, I just think your methodology of overclocking by brute forcing voltage is really bad. Often increasing voltage above certain point may result in worse stability due to thermal leakage, power limits or other factors. If increasing voltage is what makes OC good then we would have many professional overclockers.

I have a somewhat new speculation about this. There seems to be issues with PCI-E 4.0 and 4090 owners currently.
There is a thread with over 60pages on overclock.net about this, showing similar symptoms. (black screens, sometimes driver crashes)

    https://www.overclock.net/threads/massive-rtx-4090-problems-driver-or-hardware.1801381/

I cant tell for sure if its related to your problem, since you said your driver isnt crashing, but alot of it sounds familiar, maybe this could be the cause of your issue, maybe its not only related to RTX4090's, however most people having this issue upgraded from pci-e 3.0 cards. If you updated your BIOS on your Motherboard and things started happen i would consider it as a probable cause. There is also alot of people suggesting fixes that worked for them, so you might want to read a little bit into it.

There seems to be a specific Asus Motherboard that is particulary often affected, aswell. Maybe a Bios rollback could fix it for you.
Some stated that the cooler and board combination doesnt allow for proper installation of the card, where the slot bracket would deny the card to be inserted all the way into the slot, which is causing issues with pci-e 4.0 but not 3.0. Really fancy things to read.

After buying them all my plan WAS to re play them all but thanks to my 1k s**t brick I cant and now I've pretty much lost my 1 day off this week not being able to play games.. The 1 thing it was designed for, I really hope Linus does a video on this topic.

As much as I'd love to see AMD on top, I strongly feel the reason they're not is inadequate devs or investment in their drivers.

So i just would like to rant and see if I'm the only person having these issues..

I'm starting to regret buying an AMD GPU, I have had nothing but issues since buying my 7900 XTX. It seems to have issues with most older games and given AMD Graphics used to be ATI (meaning they have older cards to use for compatibility unlike Intel) I don't understand why and the fact that Nvidia cards don't have this issue. Just to get Fallout 3 to even run I had to download a mod that tricks the game into thinking the GPU is actually a Nvidia card, I cant run Far Cry 2 or 3 (haven't tested 4 yet) I sometimes get into the game but after a minute or so it will crash or sometimes the graphics driver will crash. Some older need for speeds wont even start as they aren't able to figure out what GPU/driver i am using. A few months ago i bought Alan wake remastered a fairly recent game (2020) and once past the intro video every time my GPUs driver will crash and unless i immediately restart my system it will somehow cause image burn on my MINI LED TV?! (when this crash happens and driver tries to recover it will create a blue tint over my screen) thankfully this fades over around 30 minutes. I also had this issue a few times playing Control Ultimate Edition.

I think my card itself is over volted. Its an OC card from the factory but when playing a high demand current gen game such as the dead space remake or dead island 2 it will case the card to overheat and my PC will just turn off. ONLY with undervolt my GPU via GCC will the card run without issue. My PSU is a Be Quite Dark Power 12 Pro so I have the power to run my card and my case has a front grill of mesh with X3 Corsair LL120s and i use fan control to like my case fans to my GPUs temp so they will ramp up while playing GPU heavy games. My CPU is a Ryzen 9 3950x so is able to keep up with games.

I just want to play my games and i have paid over £1,100 so for the price i expect it to at least be able to run older games without issue. Nvidia cards can but AMD cards cant and I'm starting to think about selling my card for a 4090 and never going back to AMD. It seems to me that AMD don't give their software team enough budget or staff.. I have games i have paid for but never been able to play because the GPU i paid a lot of money for just wont work with those games.. there are more game issues than what i have written about here... Gamers will flip if a game comes out half baked so why should a GPU be any different, I got this card doing what Linus asked (if you want change then put your money where your mouth is and vote with your wallet) i did and am paying the price. At this point Nvida could simply say "our GPUs cost more because they work" and at this point they'd be right.

I think Linus should do a video on this because after looking to fix many of my issues I have found many forum posts saying people have sold their AMD cards for Nvidia because games they are trying to play just wont run on AMD and yes I understand that it isn't always AMD and is sometimes up to the dev however like I said Nvida cards work on almost every game so if they can do it why cant AMD??? My previous card was a GTX 1080Ti and it could ran ANY game I throw at it, some older games did requires some tinkering but I'm okay with that so long as they run but I cant even get some games running on my AMD card after HOURS of changing configs or downloading new files etc.

I stumbled across an article stating that the new RX 7000 series cards are reporting A0 stepping via vbios for these cards and that might be a root cause of lowered performance vs what was expected out of the 7000 series cards (here). It was also stated that due to this being a hardware issue, that it would take a respin of the silicon to fix the issue which is rumored to be RDNA 3+. At some level it seems like people grasping for an answer to why the 7000 series cards didn't perform up to their expectations, but at the same time there are various reports of clock speeds being all over the place which (if accurate) lends credence to the rumor (respin). I also found a thread on the AMD community forums where one user had asked AMD directly with no answer as of yet (here). Does anyone have any thoughts or knowledge on the issue? I was so excited to purchase a 7900 xtx and now even though its all just speculation there is that slight bit of doubt in the back of my mind.

There is probably a lack of understanding what higher refreshrates can do for you. The biggest issue here is that most people think that you have to match the refreshrate in FPS to get any benefit out of it, which isnt true. F.e. 60fps on 60hz will always have more inputlag than 60fps on 144/240/360hz, Higher refreshrates make a smoother gaming experience while plagued with diminishing returns, it is a more enjoyable experience.

Im using 360hz for quite a while now, 144hz is sluggish, 60hz unusable even on the desktop. Its one of the things you cant easily go back from. Just the same as with higher resolutions or panel tech (for some people atleast). Switching back to 1080p from 1440p+ or going back to TN from IPS.
