Abzilla reacted to ProjectBox153 in How to wipe drive with windows
You'll have to see how to change the page file location to your new drive.

OK, so it isn't completely unused by Windows. In Task Manager does it say "Page file: Yes"?

In Task Manager you should see something that says "System disk: no." If you're sure then we'll wipe it. Back in the diskpart window you should be at another blinking cursor. Type in "clean" and press enter. Let me know what it says.

Now type in "select disk 0" and wait. Before you do anything else you need to double check that you really are booted from the new drive. Open Task Manager and click on the Performance tab at the top. Then click on Disk 0.

This is where you'll need to be careful, but you'll be fine. You need to determine which drive is the drive you want to wipe. What disk number is the 120GB SSD that you're trying to wipe?

Type in (without the quotes) "list disk"

No problem. Do you have diskpart open now?
-
Abzilla reacted to ProjectBox153 in How to wipe drive with windows
Just making sure. I'll walk you through the process if you'd like. Open Command Prompt and type "diskpart" without the quotes. You'll need to allow it to run.

It's a command line utility that can be used to wipe drives, but you have to be very careful with it. Do you need any of the data that is on that drive?

Make sure that you are booted from the new 480GB SSD. Have you tried to wipe the drive with Disk Management?

Abzilla reacted to MkaiL in CPU Cooler Performance Tier List
Maybe add to each tier what they are capable of cooling (tdp) for a better overview?

Abzilla reacted to Oshino Shinobu in HDD not being recognised?
Yes. If it doesn't work, try a different cable if you have one. If not, move another drive to port 3 to see if it's the port. Try switching cables around too to see if one of the cables is dead.

Abzilla reacted to BTGbullseye in Best mobo for R9 5900x?
A lot of people on here ignoring the AsRock X570 Steel Legend... It's a great board, for a decently low price.

Abzilla reacted to Haro in Best mobo for R9 5900x?
The main difference between B550 and X570 is that on B550, the lanes that are wired to the cpu are gen 4, but the lanes that are wired to the chipset are gen 3, on X570, the lanes that are wired to both the cpu and chipset are gen 4, so unless you need the extra gen 4 lanes that X570 offers, you're not missing out by going with a B550 board.
What exactly is a decently low price? Because at least in UK PCPP, it's 180 quid and that isn't really a good deal for that board compared to other boards at this price range.

The best, probably ASUS ROG Crosshair board, while also the most expensive ones you can find at the moment. The Tomahawk is a pretty good choice as are GigaByte's Aorus Pro and Master boards. ASUS ROG, MSI Tomahawk and Aorus have bios flashing functionality built in.

For around 200 pounds:
To name some boards, The B550 gaming edge WIFI is basically a B550 tomahawk but with wifi, though it's cheaper on UK pcpp right now.
Or the X570 tomahawk (The board that you linked) all of these are decent and will handle a 5900x just fine.

Abzilla reacted to Downkey in Should I choose the ryzen 7 1800x or ryzen 5 3500 for gaming?
What games do you plan to play? In most situations I'd recommend the 3500x

Abzilla reacted to Hackentosher in BEAST PC $20K+
I'm not trying to judge what you do with your money, but this seems horribly inefficient. Also, your numbers don't add up. You want to spend $20k on a rig, but have been saving $1k a month for a year. So you're $8k short? I think what I really have a hard time understanding is why you're so set on using these Titans when they are now two generations behind. You can get more performance for less money.. I just don't get it.
