in the same way you did it the first time - i generally use a dvd but if you prefer a usb drive is also an option.

Really? Only install for testing and troubleshooting purposes? Yes I admit, Windows is more consumer friendly, but Linux always will have the upper hand in boot times and memory and management. Also, since Vulcan is coming out, which supports Linux, and a lot of devs have already have said Vulcan is better than DX12, the gaming issue may be soon resolved. Could you give a reason why you think it's only got testing and troubleshooting?

I think it is quite interesting that Microsoft is making some major changes to their phone and "tablet" market, and that they are also releasing a real laptop.  The new Surface book will redefine how new 2 in 1's are made, with a discrete Nvidia GPU in the keyboard, while the CPU and all other components are in the tablet portion.

Really, NOTHING?
 
A laptop that converts to a tablet, where a Nvidia gpu is located in the keyboard dock itself and when the tablet part is connected to the keyboard dock you get the added gpu performance of a discrete gpu chip. It also has touch and pen with plenty of ram and storage and 13 in very high resolution screen.
 
A couple of phones that can turn into a desktop experience, that are very powerful as well with very nice specs and exchangeable backs
 
A new surface pro tablet that is lighter, thinner, more powerful which has windows hello (logs into your accounts using either facial recognition aka the camera just has to see you to log you in or using a fingerprint to log in) with a better keyboard and better more usable pen.

Heck yea man. Looks much better. Thank you very much for putting in the time. It does take time and effort for this stuff so I really appreciate it.
 
For the surface book, could you also add that there is a Nvidia GPU in the keyboard and that the screen pulls off to become a tablet(or what ever word they said).

i'm tired of trying for ages to get oldschool games to work on newer operating systems and hardware.

I'm seriously considering going on eBay and buying an athlon xp 3200+- the best gpu i can find from that era. a FULL gb of ram or something.  putting windows 98 or xp or something on it.

I want to be able to just put in my gazillionaire deluxe cd and play some of that sweet 16bit goodness. and then just switch to imperium galactica and play that. or dungeon keeper. or red alert. and the list goes on and on.

Without having to mess around to get them to work. There's allways easy fixes, but the easy fixes never work. so you do the hard fix. and it's just so tiresome.

I'm not sure what i'm going to do for a display though. there were those 4:5 flatscreens. if i could find that in 1600:1200 resolution for cheap i might get it.

So what do you guys and gals think? anyone interested in a build log if i go through with this?
And does anyone have any suggestions?

Do not recommend. I had a pair and the cable sheath opened up near the ear piece after only six months. RMA through Sennheiser was quick and painless, but that's not something which should happen on such an expensive product. I sold the replacement.
They sounded really good, but not good enough for me to risk the damage happening again.

That isn't the cooler we are using that is the stock one that idles at 90C
