So I took my laptop out in the rain yesterday on accident, no big deal, didn't have it out but maybe 5 minutes, but of course, a little bit of water seeps in I guess and I get it back home and it won't turn on. So, I left it over an HVAC vent over night, work up this morning, took it apart and tamped it dry with a coffee filter and it works! It works! CMOS battery is entirely drained though, so I think that's what got wet. But yeah! If you need the laptop within a day or two, and it's not feasible to let it dry for a week straight, use a coffee filter and dry it off by gently tamping on the motherboard. Make sure you're grounded though.

So here's my first PC.. Loved this thing, it came with the original software pack that had Sacrifice and Giants: Citizen Kubuto and I played the crap out of those games. I think mine was a Pentium 3 though.

The first one I used is a old Win 98 tower and until my mother got a gateway Win. XP we had nothing else, Just recently (2010) got a dell with Windows 7 and until last year i had nothing but that dell. That all changed when i built my computer and i'm pretty sure that now and forever more i'll be on the front line of tech!

I like where this thread went in my absence. Another moment of Nostalgia for me was when I loaded up my Aunt's old iMac G3 and played Marble Blast for all of 5 minutes before the heat killed the harddrive.. Again.. Apparently that was a problem for those lol.

So.. There's this girl I've been crushing on for several years now, sob story I know, anyways, I owe her a lot because despite me crushing on her, I give her a hell of a time because I'm a pretty shitty friend, and she puts up with me. That's the long and short of it and I wanna get her something really good this christmas. Her PC currently is some left over business system her boyfriend's mom had lying around that I reformatted and got going for her, and my initial plan was to upgrade it with a graphics card.. My school's IT classes need cash to be able to send the people who make it to state and regionals in SkillsUSA and I happen to be the president of our chapter and I need help coming up with fundraiser ideas. Anything will help.

So, I've had my life planned out since Freshman year in high school (this being my senior year currently), but now I'm questioning it.. I love everything to do with computers, and I can make a career of it easily, I've been told so by pretty much everyone I know.. But I'm starting to think it should just be a hobby. I don't really have the patience to work on computers for the rest of my life as a career, it would honestly take the fun out of it for me.. I prefer doing it in my spare time while smoking a cigarette and chatting on skype, without a real time frame of when it needs to be done.. But what else is there for a guy who doesn't know much else? I can't stand working on vehicles for the most part, and a desk job would bore me to tears. Retail isn't my thing either because the general populous annoys me to the point of pulling out my hair and I'm not steady enough for camera or editing work.. What does LTT think?
