JebKerman got a reaction from Tedster in CPU overclocking failure - Dead PSU (with d*cpics)
I think i'm with the clerk on this one: 0_o
did you accidentally apply some absurd Voltage or something?

JebKerman got a reaction from NinjaJc01 in Upgrade case
the Enthoo Primo i mentioned may make that quite simple. it can fit a 480mm in the roof, and another in the bottom, you could use the bottom for the GPUs, top for the CPU, or visa versa if you want a bit of crossover.

JebKerman reacted to Atmos in Rainbow Six Siege or Fallout 4 or Other?
Fallout 4 if you have no friends to play with.
Rainbow Six if you have friends to play with.

JebKerman got a reaction from STRMfrmXMN in Upgrade from VS650 to What?
you'll only actually need about 450W, even then that's a tad excessive.
Id get the 450-550W EVGA G2, or Corsair RMx/RMi, any Seasonic or XFX Units.
on a side note, regarding the CPU, I'd recommend the Intel Xeon 1231v3 (should fit in that board as well)

JebKerman got a reaction from Castdeath97 in First time PC build....any thoughts?
only sizable issue i see is the motherboard/cpu/AIO combo. the CPU and AIO suggest overclocking, but the motherboard cannot, at all.
I suggest either go for a Z170 motherboard instead. or drop the AIO and go with a 6500 or 6600, or even the 6700 if the lack of the AIO allows it.
I also would not recommend stuffing the case with that many fans, maybe 2 at the front, one at the back (EDIT: I assume the 120s were for the AIO, in that instance you want Static Pressure fans not Air Flow).
a la this:

JebKerman got a reaction from Atmos in Best Cooler for Overclocking i7 4790k
since you asked "best"
Air coolers: the usual 3/5: Cryorig R1 Ultimate/Universal, Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3, Noctua D14/D15
AIOs: pretty much any 240mm/280mm. (though most likely Corsair or NZXT)
Custom WCL: however many rads you can fit.

JebKerman reacted to The Official Czex in Best small form factor case?
NCase M1: Smallest ITX case supporting full-length GPU' s and AiO' s.
BitFenix Prodigy: Most versatile and easily modded ITX case.
Phanteks Enthoo EVOLV ITX: Stunning build with a beautiful finish.

JebKerman got a reaction from Exceef in Best small form factor case?
How small are we talking? (I assume Mini-ITX, but are we talking tower and cubes, or HTPCs)
-
JebKerman got a reaction from V-e-l-o-c-i-t-y in Slim ITX or mATX cases
the Ncase is the smallest thing in it's class, i can kinda agree with the evolv though (I assume the mini-ITX one)

JebKerman got a reaction from V-e-l-o-c-i-t-y in "K" Series Obsolete?
BCLK is (probably) not as stable as ratio overclocking (not to haswell levels of course) and is more complex.
and there's always a chance that intel will do what they did with the G3258 or, more specifically the mojority of H81, B85, and H97 motherboards, essentially forced a bois update that disabled OCing.

JebKerman got a reaction from V-e-l-o-c-i-t-y in So is the i3-6100 the new price to performance king?
if you can be bothered, and if get a good chip, and if intel doesn't prevent OCing of Locked processors...
see where i'm going with this

to be fair, You are fairly new, probably haven't seen the countless topics beforehand (much like the 970 vs 390 ones)

JebKerman got a reaction from V-e-l-o-c-i-t-y in EVGA GTX 970 or 960 and CX600M: How to power the card...
This is the modular connection at the back of the PSU, not the on the storage drives. SATA power tends to use a 6-pin connection on the PSU.
to answer the OP you use the 8 pin slots with 6+2 pin cables.

JebKerman got a reaction from V-e-l-o-c-i-t-y in Additional Drive Bays and Grommets (no accessories from manufacturer for case)
well, since there are no moving parts in an SSD you can kinda slap it anywhere with something like double-sided tape. which is a very simple solution to the drive count problem.
Don't know about the grommets though.
but looking at it they have identical internals. so using the 300R grommets and HDD upgrade look like they should work.
that said the Fractal Design Define R5 (without window) would fix both problems. which retailers btw?

JebKerman got a reaction from V-e-l-o-c-i-t-y in Fallout 4 Glitch
Assuming this is a steam installation:
1. Right-Click game
2. Properties
3. Local files tab
4. "Verify integrity of game cache..."

any reason why ROG in particular? there's tonnes of other great boards, even ASUS's not quite ROG, but still has the red aesthetic, Pro Gamer board: https://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-z97progamer
or the far more widely available Z97-A, my current motherboard. It OCes with the best of them, but has a somewhat unusual colour choice.

I see you've got your 4690K to 4.7GHz, I doubt you'll get anything more out of it, that's most likely the limit of your chip, not your motherboard.

JebKerman got a reaction from V-e-l-o-c-i-t-y in Trouble Finding a Z97 Motherboard
maybe your OC is to high for the voltage you're giving it, I've actually never heard of a crash due to a motherboard, it's usually the CPU, more specifically the CPU's overclock.
For example, I initially dialed my CPU's overclock in as 47, 47, 46, 46 @ 1.276V (all at 47 was getting a bit too hot for my liking), and it seemed stable, but i still got crashes. so I made a rule that every time it crashes i increase the voltage by 0.001, 4 crashes later and i was at my current 1.280V and it's been like that for over half a year.
