You can transplant a working boot drive from one system into a completely different one, and it usually boots after analyzing the "new" system.
You can also use Rufus to create a "Windows To Go" USB drive with Windows 10, which is capable of booting on a PC that has no storage drives of its own.

For your system i would recommend getting 4060ti or a 4070 with a cpu and psu upgrade. Now is like the perfect time to get those parts on Black Friday prices may go down but the delivery and demand would skyrocket

Oh yeah the cpu would definitely be bottlenecking it, but I'm prob gonna wait till black friday/after christmas to buy some new parts and slowly build another one up.

Dunno what that did but, I ended up just 'removing' all of my audio devices and plugging them back in. Seemed to fix it.

Jesus, months of that. Lol. Thank you,.

But if it needs to be the default communications device then maybe something to do with how you have the SPDIF thing set up

You could try slightly upping the voltage since too little voltage can lead to crashes. Just go up in small steps (like 50mV at a time) and then test again for stability

Asus TUF a15, a17, or Asus zephyrus m15 are my top 3. Two of my friends have bought them. Large batteries, 144hz screens, awesome specs, and around 1000 dollars.

If the only part that's too noisy are the current AIO fans, replacing them with NF-P12's should fix that.

You could try the Corsair Strafe MX Silent, it's a bit over your budget on newegg though.

Maybe tell him to go for a 2TB or 3 TB mechanical drive, 1 TB won't be enough and the price difference is just 5-10$.  Seems silly to lose 1TB for 5-10$.

Gileotine reacted to mxk in Need Advice on some low-cost ways to keep case noise down.
I personally think the best way is save up ~$150 (USD) and get a case with better airflow, and fill it with really nice fans. The H500 is a great case for its price but has choked airflow and that will bring noise from thermals. Having a case with airflow (like a meshify C from fractal design) and stocking it with nice fans will bring in a lot of air, keeping the system cool. Having more fans takes the work away from a lower amount of fans, letting all of them spin slower, which means silence.

At that price point, you're comparing the 9600k to the R7 2700, the 2600 is a good 100 cheaper over here... You can sell the board and get a decent X470 AM4 for around the same price point too.

The Ryzen 7 2700 beats out the 9600k in all but single threaded performance... But you should also factor in an upgrade path.  Chances are any new 10th gen intel i5 will require a new motherbaord chipset... We've seen it happen all to often. Whilst AM4 may have newer chipsets, but are backwards compatible. So the X470 will be fine for the 3xxx series of CPU's and AM4 is supported through the next few years minimum.

If you are on a budget and want a better upgrade path... sell the intel board and get the X470 and the 2700... or if you want a better option, go for the 2600x and then replace with a 3xxx series next year.

Evening folks, simple one for you today.

I know nothing about magnets and electronics other than they muck them up when held too close. My new monitor, the a 23" Asus LCD, has a magnet on it's stand base for.. reasons. No idea why. It has a paperclip symbol that I assume lets people.. put clips on it. I dont know.

Anyways I have a -very- small desk, and my keyboard cable and my mouse cabled who are of the master race braided variety pass over this magnetized zone if I'm not pinning them away somewhere.

The question is would a magnet eventually screw up something in these cords, or am I right as rain.

Evening folks, my name is Grey, and I'm in the market for some new headphones.

My hard budget for headphones would be 120$, and I've already got the AKG K271 Mk.II in mind, but the reviews say the bass in these cans aren't exactly the best. Then again, what can you get for 120$? Anyways,

    http://www.amazon.com/AKG-Pro-Audio-K271-MKII/dp/B0016MOC28/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1424927384&sr=8-3&keywords=akg%20k240

I'm looking for something that'll sound great, have a bit of a punchy bass, and is closed. Semi-open is okay, but I want something that lets me really just stick my face in some songs and not worry about the hilariously loud living situation I'm in right now (construction nearby, roommate's crazy parties every night).

So, what do you folks suggest? Keep in mind I'm not attached to AKG's brand, I'll buy what's best.
