He got it at launch, he used it pretty consistently for maybe two or three months and now he only brings it out every so often. Just says there aren't enough titles to make it really worth while.

I second the 1070. It's an understated monster of a GPU. I also have an ultrawide 1440p screen from ASUS, and I have no complaints about the 1070. Some optimization is required for higher frame rates, no question about that, but I am generally shooting for 100 fps and not 60 fps. My settings are somewhere between high and ultra on most games.

I'm excited to see how the GTX 1070 handles Far Cry 5.

Honestly you're too nice of a person. This is bad policy, in my opinion. People need to work hard to appreciate what they can afford. All you're doing is supplementing his income and artificially inflating his spending power. Is it going to be a car next? Maybe a Tesla... Why not a used 970 replacement or a new 1060 or 1050 TI? You aren't really gifting a $700 purchase... you're supporting his ass.

I don't care how you spend your money. It doesn't hurt my wallet. But making good choices aren't easy.

I have a ultrawide 3440x1440 and I think even the 1070 is good enough. I'd say the 1080 is good enough. You are an awesome brother tho, to spend $500-$750 on gift, my brother never done that for me lmao.
Just a thought but you can even save money and give him one of your 1080 lol.

Yeah. My friend got a Vive, and even though we drove all the way from Vancouver to Seattle to try it before he decided to buy one, and he was stoked, he still thinks he was better off waiting. He doesn't play it much anymore.

Get a laptop, the Dell Inspiron 7577 has decent hardware for around $1000. I dont think theres any pc thats around an inch thick.

At this point a free pc is a free pc. I would go get it and hope you can upgrade it. If not you could fix it up and sell it.

People always call a PC, a CPU. I used to do this too but now it annoys me as hell and every time I try to fix them, they always have that smug look on their face like "so what?" or "who cares".

I find them to be apple fanboys and take expensive products as granted, like every viewer would be a rich person, don't really give a lot of shit for the lower-earning people. But gotta admit tho, their vids are high quality. Still, the content isnt that great

    Greetings Pooherino ツ

My two cents on this: it really depends on how much storage you are actually using. If you have everything you need on a local or online cloud  system and your applications that you work with don't exceed that storage space I see no reason why you would need more storage space. The OS with the drivers and updates is around 35GB so you have around 80GB worth of storage space and if that can hold your work applications then a 128GB SSD should be enough for you. There are people who work on applications that take up much space for their local folders or include huge libraries of additional data needed for the work and need to store the data produced by the application on a local drive before transferring it (rendering, editing, content creation, number crunching, 3D design, etc.) so a 128GB SSD won't really be enough and they need more storage space. The same question goes for mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets - how much storage space do you really need (some people easily exceed the 128GB capacity on their mobile device, some hardly reach half of their 32GB storage limit).

Oh sorry, but when I say I want it for a long time I didnt mean it gonna break, I just mean I wanna keep it and not replacing it everytime something new comes out. Also if a mac breaks I can bring it to an apple store and they will replace it for me with a refurbished one.

but you're missing the point, this whole time you're keep talking about gaming, I dont game, I grew out of that phase already, I am not looking for a gaming laptop, if you look in my signature, I have a pretty high end pc that I built and I barely game on it anymore, cus i dont have time for it and none of the options that i listed have a dedicated gpu in it, so idk where you got the mentality of gaming from. I am looking for an ultrabook with good battery life, premium design, nice screen and keyboard. something that i will feel comfortable working on for the next 2 years. And the razer is $3500, and a macbook or dell is only $1500, Im not gonna drop so much money on a laptop I wanna save money to buy a car, but im not gonna waste money on shitty low end laptops. But I made my decision anyways, ill use the ipad until next macbook pro comes out next month

Before I begin, this post is all in Canadian dollars, so all the price seems a little off, but Canadian economy is pretty shit so yeah

So I've been looking for a laptop for so long now, but I haven't find one that satisfy me. I'm just a student and I want a laptop that I can work on, doing normal stuff like word processing and stuffs like that, but at the same time I want something that is premium and would last me a long time. So it came down to this

Option 1: save money and just use the ipad I have and borrow a Bluetooth keyboard from my brother and just use that for a month until the Apple keynote, when they will release the new macbook pro, because the current macbook pro is my favorite out of all the laptops that I looked that and I would use it for a long time, but since a new one is around the corner I just don't wanna invest so much money into a laptop and regretting it a month later, and then sell it and lose even more money. also I get student pricing for the macbook so instead of $1600 I get it for $1400

Option 2: commit to chrome os, and get a premium chromebook, which is the dell chromebook 13 with touchscreen, which is only $800, which is pretty cheap compare to the other options on this list. So I can save money and have a premium laptop at the same, but again I might regret it in the future cus I am not familiar to chrome os, and u might say why not just get a cheap $200 one, and the answer it I cant, because for some reason all the chromebooks in canada have bilingual french keyboard, which really pissed me off, especially on amazon.ca, where I ordered 2 acer chromebooks already and they both have french keyboard, but the description doesnt mention french keyboard, even the pics have regular english keyboard on it, but if I order directly from dell, it will for sure have english keyboard.

Option 3: Dell xps 13, Microsoft store is having a sale right now, for $300 off all the dell xps and other stuffs too. So I can get a 1080p non touch one for $1099, or or a QHD touch one for $1699 right now, and that is pretty amazing price, but I feel like I want mac os more, but idk cus the price is pretty attractive especially for the dell xps 13.

    Thanks

Sorry if I upset you, the razer was more of a tongue in cheek link. My first reply was about non-gaming so I thought it was implied. But I did mean what I said: look for an i5 skylake w/ 16gb of ram and a ssd and it would last you for a good long while.

That's good you made your decision and are content with it. At the end of the day that's all that matters - you're happy with what you spent your money on.

yeah Ive looked at the Dell XPS 13, and for the touch model, it is $1700, so might as well get SB with that price, and I won't get windows laptop with nontouch cus if I do then I might as well keep the MBP
