Macbook Pro 13 or Surface Book?

Pooherino ツ

So I have quite a bit of money to spend on a laptop right now, been saving since Christmas, so I been looking for a laptop since Christmas as well, I've been doing lots of researching, and I decided that MBP and SB are the best laptop for me, but I can't decide between them.

They basically have the same specs, or pretty close as far as I'm concern, i5 8gb 128gb, thats all I need for what I am gonna use it for, what matter is the design and special feature.

The MBP is C$1400, nice screen, best trackpad I've ever used on a laptop with all the gesture that doesn't exist on windows laptop, great keyboard, great battery life.

The SB is C$1750, I haven't use it yet so I don't know anything about keyboard and trackpad, but it has a touchscreen unlike mac, detachable screen, stylus pen that is really good, I've used to SP4 before so I really like writing using the pen, also supposably great battery life, better than MBP.

But I don't know, is the SB worth the extra $1750? Or should I just keep the MBP?

MBP for sure, no one really comes close to a good ultrabook.

Which Macbook Pro? The base model comes with an embarrassing 5400 RPM Hard Drive. For a $1000+ laptop marketed as a "Pro" product.

I would get the retina macbook pro, its really nice to use and is one of the best laptops I have ever owned. The macbook pro non retina is slightly antiquated in terms of specs. I have a 2015 MBP retina with windows 10 on bootcamp, does everything for me with solid performance

oh you mean that 5 year old POS lol

that thing is like $200 less than the cheapest retina 13" and not even worth half of it

idk why they even sell that thing anymore, maybe they made way too many xD

but anyway I think OP was talking about one of the modern models which is $1400

Its pretty ridiculous to still see one of those at an apple store beside a new retina mbp. Don't get me wrong, if you have one, they are still a decent laptop, but its not worth it to buy one of those anymore. Op should only consider the retina ones, and if not, look into the windows ultrabook market, lots of good options there.

I just bought the 13" MBP for school and am really happy I got it pretty much for all the pro's you listed, also you get it for $1300 if you're in school.

yeah Ive looked at the Dell XPS 13, and for the touch model, it is $1700, so might as well get SB with that price, and I won't get windows laptop with nontouch cus if I do then I might as well keep the MBP

for everyday stuff, the macbook pro is still a winner in my books so i'd personally keep it.

Go for the 13" rMBP with 256GB SSD. Ideally, if possible, wait for a couple of months, since a refresh is just around the corner. Skylake processor + USB Type-C connector probably.

On the flip side, you will get a better deal on the 13" rMBP (2015) now.

How about the Razer Blade 14? Same aesthetic as a macbook but much more powerful. Its about the same price as the surface book right now, I think.
