you can probably find them even cheaper on aliexpress or similar sites, though shipping (even though free) will probably take longer. but it doesn't hurt, and they aren't usually that expensive.
screenshot the ebay page, especially the "compatible with" section so you can complain if it doesn't work.. unless the seller already provides a return policy

its a rarely used connector called XM11 (recognized the name from the print on the adapter)
if it is listed as compatible, it should work. they may use a standard connector wired for XM11..
i'm not overly familliar with them other than we had some customers where i used to work who had them and it was impossible for us to get backups from them as we didn't have an adapter at the time

no.. it looks similar but it's not an m2, i think it's the same type apple uses/used, some thin asus laptops also used this type of drive..

it won't work in m2 connectors, the pinouts are different. it might even short circuit or overheat if you try

there might be an adapter for it, but that would mean not using it in a m2 slot (either due to adapter or size differnce with adapter on)

My Uplay would not re-install as it said my version was upto date.  However one solution posted on the above link was to open version.txt in the uplay directory and delete the text inside and save.

Now dowload the uplay installer again and run it.  It worked for me.

According to this you should be fine, but I would suggest being prepared to purchase another license just in case. Replacing the hdd and CPU as well, that's basically a whole new system by any standard.

Thermal trottling is my bet, it's throttling back to the stock clocks because it can't hold the voltage. If you check your CPU clock in Prime95 I imagine it will dip from time to time.

    Possible causes
    - Overheating CPU
    - Overheating VRMs
    - VRMs just not capable of holding that voltage

Overclocking helps in certain CPU bound games, most games, overclocking doesn't help, but in the games that do benefit from overclocking, they benefit greatly.

I would actually argue that you could run those, because quad cards are rarely supported so it won't matter if it bottlenecks a tiny bit.

That seems like a good Idea, I should be able to back most of it up onto my external HDD.
Thanks a lot for all the help

Yes, if your current setup is SSD=Boot drive and HDD=Storage drive, then you can format the SSD and still use the HDD.
A tip: When doing a fresh install unplug all the other drives in the system so you can not delete their data by mistake

It might ask for your windows key after you change your mobo. It does that to ensure windows is not being installed on another PC using the same key.
And since you are moving from AMD to Intel, please do a fresh install

What I did was before I switched over to SSD was this:
    1. boot into HDD refer to as--> "HDD windows"
    2. Uninstall all the programs I really use commonly (chrome, photoshop, MS office, games, etc.)
    3. Boot into SSD refer to as--> "SSD windows"
    4. Re install all commonly used programs onto HDD while in "SSD windows"
    5. Enjoy absolutely no problems

Windows doesn't mind: I've done this.

The only time windows decides to hate a new motherboard is if the RAM generation changes (at least in my experience) which is not what you are doing.
Another way to do what you want without the risk is to make a system restore point on your HDD and when you do you fresh copy of windows on your SSD you can restore. (assuming your restore point will fit on the SSD)

Either use your HDD as your boot drive or do a clean install on your SSD. Those are the two easiest ways, and yes you can use your HDD as mass storage. Programs that require registry keys will not work on the HDD unless you install them in the new version of windows (your registry is on the C: drive).

I'm not going through the entire three page of AMD vs Intel debate, but for your system a quality ~600w would be good. I would recommend the Cooler Master G650M. It offer semi-modularity, a quiet operation, and better voltage regulation than some of the other units in the same price range.

This is how to prove your not being a fanboy about AMD and are giving an un-biased opinion, follow these steps:
Show your computers specifications via a screen shot, speccy is good for that Show the games that you play Play the games (or just the most intensive ones) with FRAPS benchmarking Post the results in a new thread (this is about PSU requirements, which was answered) I will benchmark with the same games if I have them and post my results with older hardware (Xeon X5450 in my OC rig-3.24GHz, maybe the E8500-4.05GHz and maybe at higher speeds) and my i5 4440 if I can get it working. Invite others to do the same for the sake of comparison

    The Process
As you know, bleeding the system is the "critical" part of a water cooled build. For me, it's not only the step of removing the air and the bubbles from the system, but also the first leak test that you do for hours. You are crossing your fingers that everything will work, that you have properly fix the tubes to the fittings. Oddly, I had a small leak from the reservoir itself but was quite easy to fix by twisting the top and the bottom part of the reservoir.

At this point, the build is almost done. You just need to connect all cables and voilà!

The FX series is fine and intel can be better, regardless the guy doesn't want intel so stop arguing about it like it's an option!

my fx plays those games  perfectly fine..and most of those game suck and are poorly optimized pieces of monkey a$$ that was designed on outdated gaming engines that were also poorly optimized.

you keep saying this "play 4 out of 5 games" nonsense..well guess what? i can play 5 out of 5 games just fine..and we all know 3 out of 5 games suck balls anyways. there isnt a game on pc that the fx cant play.

I'm not here to say FX beats Intel.  I'm here to say that high powered GPU's still deliver great experiences when paired with an FX processor.  A 290 will perform better on intel in any non-GPU bound scenario, but upgrading GPU is still vastly more important for framerate and actually playing games than upgrading CPU is.  Theres no reason OP couldn't buy an fx 8350 and a 290 and have a great experience with it.

    @Jengo

People think they are getting a good deal when they buy an FX for gaming, and they are not.

If you enjoy games like MMOs(ArcheAge, WoW, Guild Wars2, World of Tanks, Planetside2 etc..) DayZ, ARMA2, ARMA3, Dead Rising 3, Indies, RTS, Emulators, etc.. the FX will fall WAY behind the equally priced Intel processors, and in some instances, become unplayable unless you are fine with 15-20fps when the action starts.

Then there are other games that are playable, but no where near as fluid as they would be on Intel because minimum framerates(which are the most important), drop much more significantly with FX processors.  A few examples are: Starcraft, Skyrim, Civilization V, Assassin's Creed, etc..

Then there are a lot of games where the FX will perform similar to Intel, provided you're using a 60Hz Monitor and don't see the bottleneck happening.

For the majority of games, the FX will be fine.  But why would you want to spend more or the same amount of money on an old, and inferior product, when you can get a new and superior product for the same amount of money.  Why play 4 out of 5 games well, when you can play 5 out of 5 games well, with no bottlenecking, lower energy costs, and future upgrade paths.  That is what Intel provides.  You will see below that even the less expensive Intel i3 is outperforming the FX8s in many games, and the locked i5 is running away with it.

I always advocate the right tool for the job, and for some jobs, the FX processor is the best tool for the job, but you need to be aware of what your priorities are when building your machine.  If your priority is gaming, then Intel is the clear winner regardless of price point. I don't hate AMD, and I have experience with both processors, and have owned both Intel and AMD. My goal here is to help others by avoiding costly mistakes that so many before them have made.  I see so many users on this forum complaining about their gaming experience with FX processors that it is time to put a stop to it, and the best way to do that is nip it in the bud and recommend the correct tool for the job. The most common problems are unsatisfactory results in certain games, VRM throttling, and GPU bottlenecking.  In my links below I will show you many different, yet conclusive results compiled from respected hardware reviewers and other members of this forum.  I hope to paint a picture as to why the FX processor is the inferior option and why it is a bad choice for a gaming machine.

That is fair enough, and thank you. Yet I have looked at the benchmarks and if I compare 2 cpus in the same price range (fx 8350 and i5 4690k) the i5 will outperform the amd chip. however, when I include the fact that I need a new motherboard, (I looked at the msi z97 g5) things start to get rather expensive, and I honestly can live without those 2-5fps. And overclocking is always an option
