That A6 probably still has some kind of warranty so I would definitely think about it a bit more. Don't have to worry about that on the 'ol B5 of course.

Thanks. The car's been great, really enjoy it. Its a 99.0 1.8T. The .0 and .5 is how vw does their years (98.0 98.5 99.0 99.5 etc) Ideally you either want a 99.5-00 or a 01 A4. 99.5 is when they introduced the facelift models. Mine is a prefacelift (99.0) but I have converted a ton of things on it to facelift to make it look newer. 01's are good since they got 170HP out of the box rather than 150 like mine.
 
Get Quattro if you can. I didin't since it was cheap and I knew the guy (who was also the og owner). Manual is a must. Avants are cool but are a lot harder to find in manual and are more $$$. I'd stay away from the 2.8's. Condition and mileage is matters a lot on these cars. There are tons of beat up B5's on craigslist. Its been ok reliability wise but has had its fair share of issues.

Pretty good, sorted out most of its issues. Although its getting a new clutch this month and front speakers since the right one blew recently (the left one has been rattling since I bought it) Also putting in facelift fogs + HID
 
Since I last posted it have done a bunch of little things to it. Clear corner mod, clear side makers, facelift tailights, reverse LED's, and an OEM RS4 grille I found on a wrecked car for super cheap. New they are expensive af. Those reverse LED's are insanely bright also. New tires too since I last posted I think. Dunlop Direzza DZ102's.

I'd rather have a different color yes, but trust me there are a lot worse B5 colors out there.
 
Yea, you don't see many clean B5's anymore, the couple on my local craigslist are trashed. Quattro would be nice, but FWD is easier to work on, is quicker, and I don't need here in SoCal. By quicker I mean acceleration wise, it kinda bogs a stock 1.8T. Of course you would need it if you are going to make a ton of power. I plan a stage 1 chip (200hp, 225 tork approximately) in in the future. Will be really fun car when its done, its already fun as is.

You're getting ripped off. You should order your parts from NCIX and pay $50 for them to build it if you're not confident enough to do it yourself.
