Windows98SE got a reaction from KingKeith55 in Why do I have such low FPS with my 290x on every game?
The 290x may also be getting too hot. They throttle themselves when that happens.

Windows98SE got a reaction from Enderman in SSD Upgrade Questions
I ran 2x 120GB Vertex 3's in a RAID0 and I noticed no difference in performance between a single 120GB SSD and the striped array.
I'm with the other guy. Just buy a bigger single drive.
The only way you'd EVER see a real-world performance boost by RAID0'ing ssd's if if you were doing file copies from one RAID0-SSD array to another. No "real world" boost, though.

Windows98SE got a reaction from dalekphalm in Issues With The LTT Community
I find it unsettling that "LOL ITS THE INTERNET WHAT DID YOU EXPECT" replies are popping up in this thread.
Just because it's the internet doesn't mean it's acceptable to waste the OP's time with irrelevant posts on his thread.
You don't do that in real life, so you shouldn't do it on the internet, either.
I think the problem is that:
1. there's no way to stop that behavior
2. The LTT forums seem to attract a younger audience.
3. The users that are here can't admit when they're wrong.
I made a post on reddit a few weeks ago regarding an issue with a dwm.exe process chugging CPU and cross-posted it here.
Someone replied "what behavior are you experiencing?" even though I had clearly stated in my post what the problem was. He even had the nerve to accuse me of going back and retroactively editing my OP when I pointed out his inability to read . I didn't edit the post because I COPIED AND PASTED IT FROM REDDIT. Behavior like that encourages people to simply not ask questions here because the replies are just time wasting.
I'm totally with the OP in his arguments, but I just don't see an easy way to fix it.
Another problem with LTT is reposting simple questions, but I won't even dive into that one...

Windows98SE reacted to rodion.zissou in Net Neutrality Explained for EVERYONE
This has nothing to do with Net Neutrality
It's about ISPs and other companies monetizing access and bandwidth. Pay to play

Windows98SE got a reaction from Anthrax in Upgrading CPU to a i7, any recommendations
It really annoys me to read "CPU Bottlenecked" and "DayZ" in the same sentence.
It's not just CPU bottlenecked. It's bottlenecked by it's own code. I manage to stream DayZ w/ OBS and still only use about 60% of my CPU.
It's just not ready for primetime yet.
OP: You aren't going to see much of a difference if you swap out ANYTHING on your system (CPU or GPU) in DayZ.
Period. End of story.
I have to turn down settings in DayZ just to get my 2600k @ 4.5ghz and r9 290 to run the game at a playable FPS.
If you're dying to upgrade, buy a new video card...otherwise you're just wasting your money.

Windows98SE got a reaction from Aligaterror in What's something so overrated but not actually that good?
So your rationing for the G3258 being overrated is because the i3/i5/i7 have the same architecture? I don't follow.
Those processors are more expensive. It's not in direct competition with those processors.
There's a reason people recommend AMD processors for budget builds. They're cheaper.
That's what this processor is geared to change. They want to steal that market space from AMD and attract tinkerers.
A hardcore gamer isn't going to go out and buy it. It's dirt cheap for budget builds and it fits perfectly BECAUSE you can overclock the hell out of it. Nobody is going to buy it and not overclock it.
Is it overrated towards someone spending $1000 on a computer? Yes.
Is it overrated towards someone spending $500 on a computer? Hell no.
Your rationing is like saying a Toyota Camry is overrated compared to a Corvette. They're not in the same ballpark.
Who cares if it won't be good for future games? It's like $75. Nobody expects a $75 processor to play next gen games.
