  1. Past hour
  2. Lock the core multiplier to 5.5GHz, the intel 14th gen crashing problem is from the crappy boosting algorithm pushing the cpu too hard.
  3. Kilrah

    Is this a scam?

D14 definitely did come with DC fans at least until some point (have 2 of them).
  4. You shouldn't do any of that until you have followed the advice already given.
  5. I mean yeah but not if you don't need "as many cores as possible", the 7900x has 4 extra cores and respective threads onto the 7800x3D, but 7800x3D isn't slow outside gaming and has 8 cores and 16 threads, which can crunch just about any low-medium level productivity, even high end productivity in some areas that don't necessarily advocate for many cores or are willing to wait slightly longer for their renders or whatever to finish. The 7800x3D is on top of list for Photoshop, since Photoshop doesn't really utilize many cores: Overall it's best currently in gaming, which is kind of an aim too: The only place where it's not as great as some other choices are heavy multicore loads like Blender, but still far more manageable if you're upgrading from a very old CPU: And even though coding is aim in this thread, it is not absolutely terrible since it's fastest gaming chip, in the example below in a real world situation the difference is 45 vs 67 minutes of code compiling, which is a lot, but it's roughly an hour anyways even if you opt for the faster CPU: The + here despite not being the absolute best at productivity is that you're getting fastest gaming CPU currently, and a fast enough productivity CPU for you to not be hung up on a project that would render all day or something. Or essentially even can still probably do some productivity tasks in the background while not choking if you try to do something else or halt the creative process' speed
  6. @ChaseB, this could fit Sponsor Discussion. However, neither is current LMG sponsor, so any comment would be about industry in general. For Asus discussion, here's one about follow-up and using Asus products in showcase videos. Here's the discussion on GN video. For EK situation, here's discussion about it.
  7. Was it not worth it? What device did you buy it for?

My shitbox doing a burnout after the last day o…

I was driving up 81 and on the washboard section I hear a *thunk* *pa-twing* *tumbling metal* as a hunk of metal goes tumbling behind me. My ex: shouldn't you stop and go get that?" Me: "on 81. You're kidding right? I'll see what it was when we get home" Cat mount had completely rusted out, there USED to be a dual L bracket, now just a piece of twisted rust. Luckily the Japanese kew this would proplay happen, and had a Y bracket tac welded at the end using galvanized metal. That car had the flimsiest suspension I've ever seen. It was made out of like soup can steel. Hit a medium sized pothole (not me) and it bent the fucking tierod to a boomerang shape. Car had entirely new suspension by the time it reached 100k.
  9. The problem with the picture above is its not realistic, none of those bends shown should really be an issue (as they aren't factoring in gravity in the diagram) as its not showing the real-world case where the cable is tugging at the pin connections. Yes individually sleeved is better (which is what PSUs generally do), but it doesn't fix the issue that if the bend is too close to the plug it will pull the connections at an angle. Example being I have a Corsair normal 12VHWPR: and also their Premium cable. You can see how the sleeved normal cable is not perfectly straight into the plug, but the more flexible one is. But still if I reduced the bend radius on the latter it would start to pull the connectors at an angle. That cable separator seems to exist to avoid you doing that.
  10. I have about 45% of my units validated at this point...
  11. Maybe i am a bit bias, but what exactly about Asus is so attractive to the average user??? Yes, in the beginning the Hero lineup both Maximus and Crosshair was out their on its own, challenged probably only by the super high-end DFI mobos, but now every brand has a flagship tier that is actually better than the Asus. Yes, purely for OC-ing purposes the Asus boards have no competition in their ability to fry CPUs, but for everyday use even BIOSTAR now have mobos that are lining up to join the fight at the top-end.
  12. That's why I specifically mentioned gaming and FP compute. Productivity, in the best case, could follow Cinebench. Cores could scale directly. Threads (HT/SMT), call it about 30% bonus for Cinebench. I saw 50% in the Ryzen Blender benchmark although at the time the main Blender code wasn't using SIMD effectively, so that could be very different now. I was thinking Skylake vs Zen 1, since Ryzen was released while Skylake derivatives were current. Anything Skylake to Comet Lake were essentially the same microarchitecture. So your Intel is another gen (or two) behind Skylake. Assuming similar clocks, even without IPC we could be looking around 2x. 3x sounds a bit high but if it hits the right mix of instructions maybe.
  13. Possibly this was updated at some point but Noctua lists the NH-D14 as shipping with a PWM version of that NF-P12 fan that is 4-pin. https://noctua.at/en/nh-d14/specification
  14. Wish I saw this. I just sold my XGM for $850 on eBay, and it was significantly cheaper here on the LTT classifieds lol. Got it on March 15, it was only used 4 times.
  15. MiszS

    Is this a scam?

lol, at least noctua still provides free mounting kit for a cooler that old
  16. It's not just an UE5 issue. It's more like a DX12 and Vulkan issue and the way devs decide to implement it.
  17. I've changed the monitor to 2 AOC CQ27G2S/BK 27" Curved monitors. I'm more concerned with future proofing my pc over the monitors. But i still want a 2 screen setup.

My shitbox doing a burnout after the last day o…

Whoops Rust is a killer too lol my first truck (a green 2wd v6 long bed f150) developed a massive rust hole right after the cab, I fell through the bed because of rust, and now it gets used to haul wood and stuff.
  19. If you want TWS, Crinacle says Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro. But if you're looking for wired, it's very difficult not to recommend the Moondrop Chu II, even if they're only $17. They're almost exactly the $80 Moondrop Aria, which are almost exactly the $120 Starfield. I'm wearing them right now and they are some of the best IEMs I have ever used. I would actually honestly get the Chu IIs and a bluetooth ear hook set, like the AZ15 ($50). Can't beat the sound quality for the price.
  20. There are two reasons, why i choose higher CPU: I'm seeing that more games using more CPU, e.g. Battlefield 2042 use 100% and Helldivers 2 use 60% of my CPU at my current system. I need more core for my VM for productivity.
  21. Well, if he is going for productivity, wouldn't a 7900x be better?
  22. OK now i am going to try following: clean install of OS (probably wont help, I´ve already tried safe mode and different drive with different install) Iwill buy different Intel CPU, i5 14500 or something. I can return it in 14 days period. If it will help I will RMA my CPU. I´ll let you all know Thanks
  23. so you went the x3D route, welcome to the current high end, at least CPU wise
