Piracy. We need a middle grounds.

Now, before I begin I have to state that I am biased on this topic and I have a fairly unpopular opinion. I believe piracy is wrong. And no, I do not pirate anything. I fully support content creators. I want to start off defining my definition of piracy being, "The illegal act of downloading content, be it movies, music, or games, for free which one would normally have to pay for". I like to support content creators. Without them there would be no content on the internet, why would I even be o

Hello World, and A Few Points on VR

Eh, I have no idea why I am doing this. I accidentally clicked on the "Blogs" tab at the top of the site instead of the "Forums" tab, and I decided why not, lets make a blog. If I have something I want to write about, and I don't think it warrants a forum post, chances are I will write about it here. Some will be very short, others may be quite lengthy. Since I can't just leave you hanging here, I guess I will start off with my opinions on VR. So when the Oculus Rift was first announced I hones

Could VR Exprience Building Be The Next PC Building ?

With more and more Virtual Reality devices being brought to consumers in the last few years from different company/Kickstarter campaigns. It makes even the most basic VR users ask them selves,How can I get the ultimate immersion experience ? Since around 2012 the gaming/tech community has been bombarded with different ways of having the best experience possible for virtual reality, however no one device has really gave us "the complete experience" by which I mean movement,3d vision, motion sensing

Which is better?

Is it better to be mean and happy or nice and miserable? I am mean and happy (i think) because being mean to people i don't like will keep them away from me and effectively keep me happier. But if you are nice and miserable you are not hurting other people but your making yourself feel worse...

Life update. TEJI Designs

TEJI Designs™ Kingsley Wong. - Custom case designer & builder. I've put my pen and pencil down for a bit so no designs are on there way yet. A bit of postponement for the time being, and for those of the community that are interested in what I gotta offer you gotta be patient and wait. Had lack of descent sleep and my physical body is not very operational as it was a about 2 years ago. Sorry. Does anyone have suggestions that they'd wa

Storage at The Whale's place...

So... what do I have running? Well first off, I have a SonicWall CDP 110 unit running in the crawl space. This is a backup-to-disk solution. Agents on all the local pc's back up files as they change. I keep about 15 revisions of everything. All this data is then replicated late at night to an offsite unit I have. The main storage system is an unRaid solution. As per Looney's storage post, I originally had one unit running about 40TB of space. I recently split that up. In the house I have a unit

Everyone else's systems...

So, now that you know a bit about the underlying makeup of the network in the house. In this Blog I will talk a bit about all the other systems. Each of the kids have a gaming class rig. My oldest saved up money for a while, and with some parts from dad is running a pretty sweet build. Corsair 540 with all the fans bitfenix spectre with the gold LED's. Asus Z87 pro board, 16GB ram, 4670k, plextar m5 256GB SSD boot, couple of 1TB for storage, and a massive phanteks cooler. Gold one with bitfenix

Interface Design

Recently I commented on a topic involving website design and it inspired me to write this blog post. When I say recently, I should say it was about 10 minutes before I began writing this. It's a topic that I'm quite passionate about. From the positioning of content based on where a person's eye is most likely to land first, to the flow of that same content based on the most natural direction for that person to move their eyes, and down to the aesthetic of the design; I love every part of the pro

Was I born in the wrong generation?

I think I should probably rephrase the title a bit and explain where I'm coming from. I love this generation...TECHNOLOGICALLY. We have so much competition, so much innovation, so many new phones and consumer products available that I don't think I could have survived in the 80s and the 90s when computers were thousands of dollars. I look back at that and sorta laugh to myself and say I can build a computer for $250 that would destroy a 90s PC wholeheartedly. I mean seriously, how did you guys

A Potential Dual-1366 Machine

In terms of raw performance, you can pick up some older dual-socket CPUs that'll beat out modern quad cores at the same price point (though they'll use more power). The build will probably be a ZFS storage box at first, and if I upgrade later on I might use it to host virtual machines or as a computing node or something. Specs: Intel x5650 @2.66 GHz (x2) - Each one consumer about the same amount of power as a 4670K and has the same raw performance (though much less performance per clock)

Update after a while...

So it's been a while since I last updated the blog and over the course of a week many things have occurred. For one I now know I have indefinently lost my father to the control of my step mother and her tricks. Now he is just completely blind. On the plus side, it seems I have received an extra 100 USD, which comes to total of approx. 450USD.

My thoughts on Battlefield 4 Mar 31st patch

Once again our favorite game to be patched has got some news. This is for Naval Strike launched today. So here are my thoughts about some selected fixes and changes. You can find full list here. GENERAL FIXES Funny and sometimes annoying. Nothing major but sure helps cleaning roofs on Flood Zone. These are bit more important. Before you had to aim to some jump with jet in order to get it into air before trees. I don't have ECM on any vehicle atm but that sounds important fix. “NETCODE” Ah

Deadmau5 - 7

quite an odd thing for deadmau5 to put out considering there is nothing reminicent of the standard house/electro house fare we have known from him, instead he has published this more experimental, ambiance style of music, Which I have been listening a lot of and I personally think it's great, quite relaxing

I have big ambitions

The other day, my track coach said he had a dream of going to the Olympics for the 400 meter dash. He said he got so close that he could almost taste the Beijing Olympics on his lips 6 years ago, but like every other athletic sob story, he unfortunately got injured. After that, he completely scrapped the idea and decided to apply as a high school track coach. Our little conversation had my mind over thinking, more so than usual but I eventually put it on a back burner... ...The idea came back

Jobs and the changing world...

Hi guys. Well, life is changing (kinda). I have multiple job opportunities to strive for before me. Here they are: On my LinkedIn page (which my current employer requires we all have for business relations reasons), another IT firm/thing has sent me a message about being interested in hiring me. While this sounds cool, I've never heard of them. They are a little over an hour away, and I know nothing about any of that (their location, the people there, etc.) However, they have it on their
