Better CPU or GPU (Gaming)

I am stuck between getting a i5 4670 or a i5 3470. If i get the 3470 i can get a better GPU, with more VRAM.

Which one should i go for ?

And if i get the 3470 will it still work in a Gigabyte Z87X-D3H Motherboard.

Thanks

You shouldn't get a z87 mobo if you're not oc'ing.

Also, the 3470 and 4670 are different sockets and your choice would really depend on the pricing. You might want to go AMD depending what games you play.

I recommend you read this, from user @Samdb. It's a great guide, and I feel AMD would be more situated towards what you are doing.

You should get an I5 3470 and get a better GPU.

I would get the i5 3470 for a better gpu because the i5 is a good cpu for gaming. The Gigabyte Z87X-D3H will not be compatible with the 3470 since the cpu is LGA 1155 and the motherboard is LGA 1150.

depends on which GPUs you are considering. More VRAM doesn't always make a difference. Even if you are on 1440p, 2GB is fine for the most part, if you are running Nvidia; I'm not really sure about ATI, since I've heard they use memory less efficiently.

Better GPU with more vram. a Boss CPU does you no good if you're lagging because of a weak GPU.
