980 ti hybrid vs titan x at 4k

ibehymer
Go to solution Solved by BrandonTheCat,

I mean in terms of "which is better" the Titan X will win because it has 12GB and a few more perks here and there. But in terms of price and "which one to buy" the 980ti will win. Just... 980 ti

Edit: didn't read the hybrid part. 980 Ti then.

which GPU is better at running games at 4k resolution? 980 ti hybrid or the titan x?

980ti because it (almost always) clocks higher than  the titan x

and you wont use all 6GB in 99.9999% of games so thats not a problem

You do realize that VRAM doesn't stack in SLI, right?

You still have 6GB VRAM, even with 2 980 Ti's.

that's not how it works

980tis only have 6GB of vram not 12

and having two or three or four GPUs in SLI or CFX does NOT stack the vram

you still only have 6GB even if you have 4 980tis

I know it doesn't stack the vram, i'm not stupid... In gta graphic settings it gives you a total number of vram used. Mines 11gb out of 12. It says this because of Ultra textures, anti aliasing, tessellation, etc.

Here is what I mean (this is not a pic of mine, just found it on the web.)

its actually using 5.5 out of 6

since it just adds each GPU together, and all the GPUs mirror the vram

actuly it does try and use 12gb because I get stutter when i go over 6 and afterburner reports usage up to 12 which causes drop over 60 fps

It's a genuine issue for the game when u try for 1440p 144hz

But never drop below 60

check your system ram then

it might be using that for the extra 6GB which would explain why you get frame drops
