The point of this thread went right over your head. Someone spending $25 on a router probably doesn't have 160 pounds to drop on an RT-AC87U. And at that point, why not just get a WRT-1900AC

well, because 87u is 4x4 and provides some extra feature the WRT 1900 does not have. And oh well my bad, just seems pointless spending $24 on a router :L

its worth it for $25 but I want an AC router at this point. Im still rocking my Buffalo WZR-600DHP w/dd-wrt oh and a 2TB time capsule (wireless N there too) (i hate the time capsule... cant replace it though because $$

I personally had one of these and, It was total crap. The options on the web interface were fine and all, but several of my devices kept getting disconnected from it and I couldn't find any fixes. It could have been a defective unit, so if someone else has one and you like it then i guess it could be a good router.

Mine is crap as well. A 4x less cheap trendnet router works better

Routers drop in value so much once they're used. You can save like 60-70% if you buy used. Routers and modems are something I would never buy new.
