Please tell us the following:

1) What are you wanting to do with this build?

2) What's your budget?

3) What's your location?

If you're planning on gaming then I'd go with an Intel chip (because it will have better per-core performance which is what makes the difference in most games), it will draw less power and will let you use a cheaper motherboard.

Sig under construction.

Oops sorry,

I want to build a gaming pc that runs at 1080p. My budget is around $500-$600, and I live at North Carolina US.

  1. get an i3-4170 instead. it will perform better for you
  2. get a 280x or 380 at 4gb instead for the gpu as they will perform better
  3. everything else looks fine

edit:

when you buy a new gpu, make sure it's not voltage locked. if it is, you won't be able to overclock it to its full potential

Awesome! Thank you for the help @BigDay.

Is it necessary to buy a different Heatsink? and you know another Case that has "Black" and "Red" theme for this build?

you can get away with the stock intel cpu cooling solution, but it's not ideal. it can get loud and hot, but it will do for now. i'd recommend the hyper 212 evo as a cheap, but effective solution if you have the money

this one would do as well:

Cooler Master Hyper T4

edit:

sorry, i don't know of any cases that have red and black as the color that are good

Then you want to be looking at a case with good airflow (focus on the function of a case rather than aesthetics; spray paint is cheap and can look fine if done right...), and find the biggest heatsink you can fit in it.

You can always upgrade to an AIO liquid cooler later (and have a less open case design), since you can usually find them for as cheap as $50 for a single 120mm rad one? A good air cooler will run anywhere from $40-$80 so you may even want to consider that initially instead?

You are going to get the most out of your overclock from liquid cooling FYI, so if you want to get the most performance out of your cpu, maybe you can review some LTT reviews of AIO cooling solutions to see if one will fit your build

*You should still get a respectable OC from Air with the right heatsink, just not as much as liquid*

Current System Specs:

MOBO: Gigabyte Aorus Ultra Gaming     CPU: Intel i5 9600k      GPU: EVGA GTX 1070 ti FTW Ultra Silent    PSU: EVGA 750 G2 80+ gold

Ram:  16GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro DDR4-3200    Storage: 500 GB Samsung 970 EVO/ 4TB WD Blue Case: Corsair 275R-White

Hey there whengtotsz,

The build looks OK for what you need it for. The guys also gave you some good advice.
WD Blue is a good drive for this as it's a reliable and inexpensive drive that can run some more demanding applications and all games without problems. :) I would still consider a small SSD for the OS and (if you can fit them) some applications/games that can actually benefit from the speed of the drive. A SSD would significantly increase the responsiveness and transfer speed of your system and decrease loading and boot times dramatically.

If this helped you, like and choose it as best answer - you might help someone else with the same issue. ^_^
