New Display Announcements IFA 2015 | G sync | 165Hz | 3440x1440 100Hz | Frameless designs

Firstly, please go to this thread here: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/442716-acer-200hz-ultrawide-curved-non-tn-g-sync-monitor-makes-baccon-too/ made by @GoodBytes for details on the 200Hz Acer Ultrawide VA Panel display.

Also check out this: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/438638-dell-unveils-its-curved-27in-and-g-sync-monitors/ made by @ahhming for details on the Dell G sync 144Hz TN Panel gaming display

After seeing the threads above I noticed there wasn't any made for the other monitors that were announced/showed off/detailed earlier today at IFA 2015 in Berlin so I thought I'd make my 1st news post.
(Sorry if there are threads which I missed.)

Acer Predator XB271HU, XB271HK and XB281HK

PRglrDW.png

The 27-inch models (XB271HK / XB271HU) feature a ZeroFrame edge-to-edge design with 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) or WQHD (2560 x 1440) IPS panels that support 100% of the sRGB color gamut, while the XB271HU supports NVIDIA ULMB and refresh rates of up to 144Hz. The 28-inch model (XB281HK) features a 4K UHD panel that has a fast GTG (gray to gray) response time of 1ms, rendering fast-moving actions or dramatic transitions smoothly without smearing or ghosting.

Along with the z35 updates, Acer today announced/gave updates on the above 3 displays to come, all of which featuring in their XB Gaming Series. For me the most interesting of which is the XB271HU which is looking to be an updated version of the current XB270HU which is known for being the IPS 144Hz 1440p G Sync option for gamers. The new revision will feature a new 'ZeroFrame' edge to edge design as quoted from Acer, so hopefully we can get be looking forward to 1440p 144Hz and IPS without the piano black bezel!  :o (Although instead we get something which imo is just as ugly...) Of course like all g sync displays the XB271HU will feature ULMB mode (Ultra Low Motion Blur) when G sync is off.

The XB271HK is more of the same with the 'ZeroFrame' design, but it is a 4k Panel at 3840x2160 and most likely a 60Hz refresh rate, again with an IPS Panel and G Sync!

Finally, the XB281HK is another 4k Panel, although it is a TN Panel (Still G Sync and 60Hz) so you can expect it to come in at a slightly cheaper price.

Availability should start in November for North America, and in October for else where, prices 'starting' at $799, but the exact pricing and availability of each individual model in each region is unknown as of yet.

Eizo FlexScan EV2750

UEoz7XH.png

CNzO9Y2XAAALBaA.jpg

This is a 27" 2560x1440 IPS Display from Ezio featuring a flat bezel-less design.

This display is very much geared towards professional/business use, and not towards that of a gamer (Not to say that it couldn't be used for gaming though)

Pretty much all of its features are aligned to office use, low power consumption and ergonomics. And I'm sure it being Eizo will mean the price matches the professional business side of it.

It features a quick release latch for better use of vesa stands, an ergonomic stand with 155mm of height adjustment, 40° tilt (5° down, 35° up), and 344° swivel. It pivots 90° clockwise and counter-clockwise and the bezels are less than 1mm on the sides and top with a panel border of 5.5mm, and an overall thickness of 48.5mm.

Quotes from tftcentral:

EIZO uses a hybrid dimming technology that makes flicker unperceivable even at low brightness levels. Furthermore, in dimly-lit work environments, brightness is adjustable to 1 cd/m2which is less than 1% of the maximum.

EIZO’s incorporates its own EcoView technologies to reduce typical power consumption to 22 watts. Auto EcoView automatically adjusts the screen’s brightness in accordance with the ambient brightness to trim power usage while reducing eye fatigue. EIZO has upgraded Auto EcoView so that it takes into account the human eye’s sensitivity to changes in low brightness levels up to 100 cd/m2 and renders these changes less noticeable for more comfortable viewing.

The features listed above will be very helpful in keeping power cost down and reducing eye strain for office environments. Which again is why this isn't for your typical gaming consumer, and why I don't expect the price to match up with other 27" IPS 1440p displays.

ROG Swift PG348Q & PG279Q

kzgMLs1.png

2h2CEYY.png

So these two aren't newly announced, BUT! They have been confirmed to have new refresh rates which are very exciting!

The 34" G sync 3440x1440 Ultrawide is set to now work at 100Hz, just like the upcoming Acer x34

The PG279Q (G sync, 1440p, IPS) is now announced to work at 165Hz! The first monitor to have this refresh rate out of the box, and at 2560x1440. Giving the Acer alternative a great run for its money, even with its new frame-less design!

Both of these updates were confirmed at IFA 2015 by Asus themselves, and they made a press release here: http://press.asus.com/PressReleases/p/ASUS-Showcases-Complete-Lineup-of-ROG-Gaming-Innovations-at-IFA-2015#.VedlF_ZVhBc

So yeah they are the other main monitor announcements/updates from IFA 2015. The main one of course being the 200Hz update to the Acer z35 which @GoodBytes detailed in his thread linked at the top. Although it is still unclear on what they mean by it's overclockable to 200Hz and how well this will work. Although some people are speculating that it is a 200Hz out of the box with G sync features only, and that it doesn't mean you can just overclock it and use it at 200Hz in the conventional sense with any gpu.

Give me more 16:10 monitors dammit. I want more 2560 by 1600 monitors that don't cost an insane amount of money......

I mean that Eizo one is kinda nice, but still 16:9 which is not an aspect ratio I'm very fond off.

My bad. Only the 200Hz in the title stuck out. Not sure about some of them, but most of them have already been posted. The only one missing that no one has yet posted, excluding your list, is the new Asus 3440 x 1440 monitor.

The 30" 2560x1600 Panels from LG.Display have been around for ages and gone through many revisions, so I'm not sure if we're likely to see it or another panel made into a 16:10 display for a decent price any time soon   Although yeah I'd like to see that done as well, but I think it will be more of the same for a while, and pushing more for the ultrawide format :c

Yh I probably should have left the 200Hz out of the title, jst added it in because I reference it a bit.

I just now added in the Asus updates of higher refresh rates. Thanks!

Or the PG348Q? (I may add the PG348Q in now because it has a confirmed 100Hz)

Yh, it was the PG348Q. I want a triple surround setup with those. I know it's overkill, but hey, that's what enthusiasts are there for.

I just added the 2 Asus updates :)

And that would be overkill, but if I had the money I would too  :D

I think I'd pick the Asus over the Acer x34 as well tbh, I prefer the design.

Not a fan of the Acer gamer-ish stand, but good lord the bezels and specs.  Same for the Asus.  If they can keep quality control tight then these are going to be amazing.  *_*

Assuming the PG279Q doesn't have any QA issues *cough* XB270HU *cough*, I just might get that for christmas. And maybe another 980.

Aha lets hope not, I'm hoping the XB271HU has a smooth release too being the 'update' to the XB270HU, but the Asus at 165Hz is very tempting over the new design of the Acer  ^_^

I 100% agree! I much prefer a clean minimal professional look, but in the high end of gaming monitors that isn't an option right now   At least Asus do it better than Acer (imo)  :P

According to this the 4K is 75hz. With a minimum of 24? (I don't believe that at all)

Yeah that's why I said "most likely a 60Hz refresh rate" because I wasn't sure either if those reports were accurate or not

If they are though then great! I wouldn't be surprised, everyone seems to be pushing for higher refresh rates now, and it's good selling point, because a lot of people do say they can tell the difference between 60Hz and 75Hz, and at 4k I'm pretty sure it'll be the 1st IPS 4k Panel to do 75Hz out of the box!

No No No.. don't do this.

Don't do a master thread of an event. We will get repost, as the title doesn't cover the products, and making search difficult.

Moving to General Discussion.

Sorry, didn't intend for it to be a master thread, just didn't think some of them needed their own individual posts (But at the same time still being interesting news)

No problem. Like I said just split it up.

You can split the thread in 3. Show that cool Acer monitor, ASUS new monitors and EIZO new monitors, as 3 thread.

Should take you a a minute to do.

Big thanks!
