air vs water cooling

ibehymer
Go to solution Solved by 79wjd,

i dont mind having a big air cooler.

Well, then I would go for a Be Quiet! Dark Rock if you want a black anodized heatsink. Alternatively, if you don't really care, then a Noctua NH-D14/D15. There is also the Cryorig Z1/R1.

I'm not positive what the clearance of that case is for the cooler, so just double check that. (Although I would probably go for a difference case, but whatever)

should i get an air cooling or liquid cooling cpu cooler? which is more reliable? obviously liquid cooling would be a lot cooler, but for overclocking a i5 4690k should i use a water cooler or air cooler?

High end air coolers are just as good as AIO's. So it comes down to which look you prefer. (Also, Air coolers are more reliable, since AIOs have liquid which slowly evaporates, and has a pump which can fail)

that depends on the AiO

no air coolers perform better than a 280mm AiO

and only some air coolers are similar to a 240mm AiO

Air cooling, currently the cryorig r1 ultimate sells for £60 and a h100i sells for £95-£100

for the Lower price you get a cooler that may be big but also cools better and is also a lot cheaper and won't ever have the chance of pump failure

Well, first decide what aesthetic look you want. Do you want an AIO or a giant metal tower (which can come in black anodized metal as well as silver); and if you're willing to take a hit in noise levels and durability for an AIO.
