Sapphire, MSI, ASUS or Gigabyte

Sapphire provides best cooling and noise efficiency. MSI best overclocker

Don't touch ASUS. Gigabyte is meh

Sapphire makes motherboards? And if so why would you buy it and how would a motherboard affect fps?

it was extremely slow, like my cousin had a athlon 4000+ X2 2Ghz with gtx 260 and could play BF Bad company 2 easily, and we had athlon II X2 3,1Ghz first and then upgraded to athlon II X4 3,1Ghz cuz we thought it was the CPU and a gtx 560 and got 5FPS average in such games and everything was slow and laggy. AFter buying a A88X-A and athlon 760k, everything runs smooth, it was definetly the mobo when this happens on two different CPUs.

Motherboards do not affect performance so you disproved your statement about Sapphire having bad motherboards and like you said you only got improvements after CPU replacement.

no I didnt get an improvement, cant you read? only after upgrading both CPU and mobo, the upgrade from the X2 to the X4 didnt change shit

doesnt matter, still decent cpu, why should that athlon not be able to run games that an athlon 64 4000+ can

Look at the benchmark. So much improvement

any CPU from the last 10 years should be able to operate Win 7 32/64bit flawlessly with basic workloads, it still doesnt change the fact that the motherboard was the problem

operating windows and playing a game is totally different

because both was impossible, but 60% of the users dont know much about performance of CPUs anyways, when a friend of mine made a post whether his old athlon X4 640 is gonna GTA V or not, everyone said its not gonna work, but he gets 45 FPS avg on medium with an r9 270x 2G

You first said that you couldn't run BF BC 2 and now you're saying that you couldn't run win7 32/64, which is it? Also how much ram did you have? Also what you need to run GTA V is a phenom which is far weaker than an athlon and an AMD HD 4870 (VERY OLD).

http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/AMD-Phenom-9850-vs-AMD-Athlon-II-X4-640/m2967vsm225

http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/ATI-HD-4870-vs-AMD-R9-270X/m7788vs2188

Please look at the difference in both. Athlon gets about 30% more performance while the gpu is 200%+ more improvement so it can obviously run GTA V
