Boot SSD Nearly Full

Cawood18e

About 6 months ago I built my own PC with a Corsair Force LS 60GB SSD and a Seagate 1TB HDD. I intended to use my SSD purely to store windows for faster boot times etc. however today i noticed that it already has 50GB of data on it, a disk cleanup didn't do much so i decided to investigate what was taking up so much room. I found that my windows folder took up 21GB of space (which i expected from 8.1 64-bit) but also that my users folder took up 15GB; looking closer, hardly any of the folders inside the users folder contained any data so i am wondering if anyone has had this issue before? I want to install windows 10 when i receive a copy but at this rate i won't be able to.

TreeSize Free -> Scan your disk, see what files are taking up space.

60 GB SSDs are blargh.

Also, the Win 10 install files may have downloaded onto your boot drive, possibly explaining the extra used space

1. How much RAM does your computer have (in relation to the paging and hibernation files)

2. How much space is system restore using?

Those are the 2 reasons I had my (now dead I think) Corsair Force LS 60GB (also paired with a 1TB HDD as it happens) fill up with not much other than Windows on it.

The only two things taking up space are the windows folder and users folder, but i have transferred the documents, desktop, downloads etc to my E drive so i don't understand why the users folder is still taking up space on my C drive?

By any chance did you click the option to move all files when changing the default location for My Documents, My Music etc? And how much space is appdata taking up?

Check the size of the AppData folder (it's hidden). Use a free tool that analyzes storage usage. Some apps will store large amounts of data there including Amazon's music utility, Steam, Java, and others. There could also be some large update files in one of the Temp folders in there that can be deleted.
