Moniter Choices

TheGhzGuy

Hello everyone, I've had the recent joy of trying to pick out my monitor for a gaming rig. (My GPU is a 980Ti so Freesync monitors are out of the question) The games I play include Project CARS, The Crew, BF4, BeamNG.Drive, GTA V and a few others. My father wasn't exactly happy when he heard the monitor I like (The Acer XB270HU) was 800 dollars. (I really want to use 1440p)

Here are my options:

My two questions are:

Is there anything else I should look into?

Will I need anything more than 60hz for these games?

My father's questions are:

What does G-Sync do? (I've told him and yet he still doesn't understand)

What is the benefit?

Do you really need it?

Thank you in advance!

G-SYNC synchronizes the monitor and the GPU, which eliminates some visual artifacts such as tearing. If you want to show an example and you have BioShock Infinite, running the benchmark utility should give you a very clear demonstration of tearing in the first 10-20 seconds of the benchmark.

The synchronization also makes gameplay generally smoother and less "judder" than normal. Between that and tearing, it just improves the game experience and immersion overall.

You don't NEED it, it's not as if gaming wasn't possible until G-SYNC came along 2 years ago. But it is nice to have.

Well, ignore the Asus rog swift. If your gona spend that amount, there is no question you should get the acer xb270hu instead. Its IPS... a whole different story.

If you dont want to spend that kind of money, get that 25" IPS you listed.
