Low Points Per Day & Slow Progression!

Hi,

first off sorry if this is posted a lot or if the solution is already posted somewhere, I read the FAQ post Whaler_99 made, but couldn't find my solution.

I'm new to folding, in fact I only just downloaded it and completed my first work load about 10mins ago, which was fine it ran smoothly, used about 83% GPU load at Full and went decently fast with an average PPD rating of just over 300,000 with my 980Ti

However when it started the new WU the PPD since has dropped to around 1000 and in the time it took to complete the first one, this one hasn't even achieved 1% aha which is making me think something must be wrong, or is it meant to be like this and each WU is just slow to start? (Sorry really am new to folding)

Anyway any advice on how to fix this (if it is an issue) would be very much appreciated, thanks in advance :)

Edit: Oh and my GPU load on the 2nd WU is higher in the 90's and the clock speed is still up there, that's why I was confused when it was going so slowly

Strange, seems it fixed itself and is working at 400,000 PDD now, guess all I needed was more patience?  lol

Yeah, take no notice of what it's says on a fresh WU, wait 'till it's like 10% done or so

Also certain cores give terrible results on nVidia ...I forget which ...core 17's maybe?

Pretty much. It has to go through a couple of percent before you get a more accurate PPD.

You shouldn't have many problems with low PPD with a 980ti unless you get Core 15 WU's, or if the Nvidia drivers crashed. In the case of Core 15, you'd just have to suck it up. And for driver crashing, then I would lower any overclock you had on the cards (if any).

Oh okay, thank you both! And I'll look out for core 15 WU's, I actually recently lowered my overclock due to some driver crashes so should be stable hopefully.

Nah, core 17's run amazing on everything. Core 15's are universally sucky for Nvidia GPUs and core 18 has all sorts of issues with Maxwell GPUs, but they may have fixed that.

I was just working on a WU that got to the 90's % wise then dropped down to the 50's, is that normal? o:

Ahh Core 15 ...I knew it was one of them :P

Normal, no ..at least I haven't seen that ..Did something happen, like the driver fall over?

aha not a clue what happened, but looked at the logs after and seemed it just failed somehow and reverted to the last recorded working state which happened to be in the 50's S:

Been folding away fine since then though so all's good :)
