cheeze_tartz

Never really thought about this, but will you be able to see more than 60 FPS on a 60hz monitor?

If you overclock your monitor, then yes.

If not it'll just cause tearing.

Just remember: Random people on the internet ALWAYS know more than professionals, when someone's lying, AND can predict the future.

Yeah....No.

We might not be able to see it, but we can detect the difference, and I really prefer not to have my eyes bleed. If you want to have a major headache, try watching a screen running below 30fps for an hour.

But it's been scientifically proven on a random article I found on Google that anything above 12 fps is a waste! The writer said he was a optical scientist!

You're right! We can see 12 fps per eye, so 24 fps in total!

I hope you realize by now I'm just BS'ing.

Yes.

No, wrong. You're seeing all the frames, just fragments of them because the monitor can't update them quick enough.

If you're talking about tearing, that only happens when the monitor receives a new image while it's in the middle of drawing a frame. The monitor isn't constantly drawing though, for example if you have a 60Hz monitor, that means each frame is displayed for 16.667ms, but that doesn't mean after 8.333ms the monitor is halfway done drawing the frame, etc. It only spends a short time drawing the frame, and then holds it on the screen until the next refresh. So if you receive a new frame after the current frame is finished drawing, it's entirely possible to skip it completely if it receives a second new frame before the next refresh cycle begins.
