If colour accuracy is important get an IPS monitor, which resolution you get will depend on what specs your system is, also how much money you have to budget for it.

The problem is those are two contradictory terms right now. Running the best usually means higher framerates, and those right now are TN panels (120hz IPS panels are coming soon), and TN panels don't have the best color. IMO right now the best compromise is a 144hz TN panel that has some tricks to make it have better color, but it still wont match the color of an IPS panel, but the IPS panels only run at 60hz, making framerates above 60 pointless (unless you count the 1/120th of a second input lag decrease that is dwarfed by the rest of the input lag of the system, but hey, who am I to judge?)

@samcool55 PC @o0Martin the budget have to but 200 Low !

Then you're kind of screwed for performance, a limited to basically a 23" IPS 1080p display, which is just typical run-of-the-mill faire.

So you're looking at 1080p screens, you can get nice IPS screens for $200 at 24", or if you want a bigger screen say 27" you'll have to look for a TN one.

I used to use this: http://www.amazon.com/Asus-MX239H-23-Inch-LED-backlit-Frameless/dp/B00B1IAL7W/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1430686153&sr=8-3&keywords=24+monitor+ips

It's a stunning monitor, great colours, frameless design, and for me it was fine for gaming, and gave the vibrate colours I wanted.

Are you playing competitive fps games, MMO's, *Cough Hearthstone? do you need more than 60fps (60hz).. There isn't really "1monitor to suite them all" there are different monitors for different purposes.

IPS panels have more input lag but better colors (not ideal for competitive FPS games)

TN Panels have very low input lag but more washed out colors.

need more to go on

How bad TN is? The ones who should be ashamed are the idiots that blindly suggest random ips monitors. There are good TN panels and absolute shit TN panels. Just like there's good IPS panels and absolute shit IPS panels.

There 100% is bad IPS monitors, that's for sure, not all IPS Panels are made equally, like my laptop screen is IPS, but the colour accuracy and viewing angles are shit compared to my asus MX monitor.

But I wouldn't say there are 'Good' TN Panels, my main monitor now is my ROG Swift PG278Q which is probably one of the much better TN panels, while the colour accuracy is actually good imo, the viewing angles are what I hate, that's the main reason I would advise IPS over TN any day.

But if you can stand bad viewing angles then you could say there are 'good' TN Panels.

Well you and I probably have a different take on what makes a "good panel" Yes my ROG swift has some color shift, but I don't even notice it when I'm sitting in front of it while gaming. As for color accuracy, most of the "IPS" panels that people have don't even have good color. Sure they have vibrant and bright colors, but they're not "accurate" colors. Accurate colors aren't pleasing to my eyes, it looks dull, I'd rather have it over-saturated so I can have vibrant colors.
