Dropping an SSD for a better CPU worth it in this build?

I've been helping my friend pick out parts for a gaming computer this is where we are right now:

He's been thinking the i3 will be holding him back. I don't think it will but an upgrade to an i5 would be pretty decent. I was thinking of dropping the SSD and putting that towards a i5 4440/60. Do you think this is a good idea?

Also thinking of switching to this mobo http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SUR7WFQ/?tag=pcpapi-20 to save a little

I would take the SSD any day, because it makes actually using the computer feel much better, but a perfectly good argument could be made for an i5.

Definitely go for at least an i5 and buy SSD later :)

Yeah absolutely. Go for i5 first then SSD later seems to be a smarter move :D

I know its not a lot of money, but drop the extra fan, the Spec-01 comes with 2 fans already

SSDs only affect loading times. That's it. You'll boot faster and load programs faster, so your computer will feel more responsive, but that's it. I went from an HDD to an SSD, and yes, things load faster, but I couldn't care less because I'm not an impatient little kid. I haven't even bothered moving over my most played game onto the SSD because I couldn't care less. Skip the SSD and get the i5...

...unless your friend is an impatient little kid. In that case, he may value the extra 45 seconds a day from the faster loading times.

SSD's are the greatest "buy it later" addon there is.  CPU/GPU must be maxed to your budget, then throw in a decent SSD down the line for your OS boot drive.  It's a really savvy way to build your computer.

Any one think switching the mobo out is a bad idea?

The motherboard isn't going to matter so long as it has all of the features you want from it.
