Intel Rig | Thoughts?

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/vV4Q99

Good choices? My budget is 1.5-2k euro.

Firstly, check out my current rig down below, I'm going to be keeping some stuff from it hence the parts missing from the build.

I will be keeping my GPU and PSU as I want to wait for the new GPUs dropping this summer. Thinking of upgrading to a 980 or grab another 280x and put them in xfire for the time being.

Any objections with my build? I'm going to be using it for edting and gaming.

Im not a amd fanboy but i suggest you wait for the 300x series and see if their worth any good, they should arrive in a few weeks

That's what I'm talking about. Going to wait after they come out and upgrade GPU+PSU together.

You do not have a case in the partpicker build and I suggest getting a new one.

You could wait for the 300x series from amd which or the next nvidia card for the other ones to have a price drop.

But if you are impatient then a 970 or 980 is still really strong.

Try posting this in the planned builds category ;) but I`ll say its okay :D but with your budget get a x61 rather than such an old aiO cooler :(:)

You'd be better of with simple dual channel memory though 2x8 GB :)

Also if you're going to edit and stuff you might want to look into Nvidia, and if you're going to do any 3D modelling(which is awesome btw) you will also want to go with Nvidia. I know I'm coming off as a fanboy, but as far as I know in video editing Nvidia is a little better(don't quote me on that) but in 3D modelling Nvidia is definitely what you want to go with. AMD however are good for the price if you're looking to be gaming mainly/only and if you're there I'd also say wait for the 300 series, unless you're impatient ;)

I'm thinking I keep my Corsair 200R. Any replacement suggestions?

I would suggest getting something bigger for a water-cooling setup (even if it is not custom thingy).

Such as the 300R or something else. Especially since your budget is so big and perhaps a 256 gb ssd?

I am not sure how much everything will cost but I think you can afford it.

It would be nice to have some extra games on the ssd such as gta V (60gB)    ;)

I do not suggest getting another 280x "just while waiting" and then switching it out for something else. I would much rather just wait it out or get a strong(er) card such as a 980 or 2 970s.

Everything would probably fit in the 200r but with the 300r you will get more headroom (especially for the water cooling) and better air flow.

I do no know any special/good extra fans that you can have in your case.. I would just look at reviews/rating and then pick after that.

I would suggest getting 2-4 extra case fans then you need to choose if you want positive, negative or neutral air flow ^^

(The Tech team has made a video about it if you are curious, Linus and those guys)

In terms of 3d modelling Nvidia definitely takes the first place but sadly I don't do much of that. I really don't care about brand as long as the GPU has a reasonable price/awesome results.

But, I really want to go Nvidia. I've been AMD my whole life and all I'm hearing is how great Nvidia is. Especially lately, half the games I play are badly optimized with AMD cards, stuttering when they shouldn't, 10-15+ fps less etc.

If AMD's 3xx series don't satisfy my needs I'm going for a 980.

I totally get your 100% valid points but I'm keeping back a little bit to allocate money for GPU+PSU upgrade.

I'd recommend you to get the RM850(will work with 970 SLI), that PSU is simply rock solid! But if you want room for upgrades(if you're going with the 970 SLI) and the PSU to last longer get the RM1000 :)

With 1000w he can get 3 970s and overclock pc+ gpus.

850 is enough for 2 overclocked 970s (with headroom).

For 1080p 60 hz a 280x is enough.

But for 1440 144hz 2 970s (or 1 980) should be enough also (as far as I know).

Don't get the V300 SSD, it was subject to speed slowdowns due to dodgy NAND replacement antics. This may have been fixed, but be on the safe side and get a Crucial BX100 or MX100 instead

I'm sorry if that I didn't say this  but this is what I meant. If you have money left over, get the RM1000 simply because he won't push it near it's full potential and therefore it will last very long and be able to go through multiple builds. But ONLY if you have money left over!
