Best 1440p display...?

improbablepants
Go to solution Solved by Glenwing,

The G257HU might not be a bad choice here.

I am looking for a new monitor. I would really like to not go above $350 ($375 is pushing it), and would like something of a nice resolution. IPS is a must, and 5ms or so response time would be nice. Ill be gaming, watching videos and light content creation. Any suggestions? Also, I found this monitor - http://pcpartpicker.com/part/acer-monitor-umkg7aa002 - is it any good(I know its Acer, I'm just unsure if the price is too good to be true)?

Save longer, get Acer predator 1440p 144hz 4ms IPS.. :D

It's MUCH more than 350 though. But being on AMD the freesync version should be about $250 cheaper than the g-sync one

Im using a dell u2515h right now, and absolutely loving it.

Normally dell 1440p monitors are pretty expensive (upwards of 400$), but this monitor seems to be a fairly reasonable price for 1440p (I got it for 3000 NOK which roughly translates to around 380$)

its ips, and has a response time of 6ms if im not mistaken (I came from a benq xl2420t with a 1ms response time, so if it was bad i probably would have returned it xD)

How is it Im considering to buy that one too :D is it good for gaming or should i consider a 120hz+ model at 1080p?

I came from a 1080p 144hz monitor, and this monitor has not bothered me in the slightest while gaming...

It could also be because ive not been playing as many twich games like cs or battlefield lately, but either way the response time does not bother me, and the colors being off on the 144hz panels bothered me...

bottom line is that i depends on what you can afford, and what types of games you will be playing. If they are more shooters, and you don't care for color accuracy definitely go for the 144hz because the smoothness is SO NICE, but if response times, and refresh rates aren't needed than 1440p ips is a very nice options, as it lets you have more real estate, helping you work as well...

Oh lol sorry,

My previous monitor was a high refresh rate 1080p monitor. that served me well for a while, but the color started bothering me after a while (high refresh rate monitors usually use tn panels that don't have the best colors/ viewing angles)

due to these problems, i decided to sell it and get the u2515h, which is a 1440p ips panel (better colors/ viewing angles, but only 60 hz, and more input lag). the inherent problems with ips however did not bother me too much partially due to not playing many fast paced games, and partially getting used to it by using the 60hz panel on my laptop...

hope that cleared it up xD

While were on the subject of of 1440p monitors, i had a quick question, can anybody help me decide between the Asus pb278qr and dell u2715h? I can get both at a similar price and they both seem to be recommended equally, so is there any particular reason to get one over the other?
