Will a GTX 980 Reference Cooler fit on my EVGA 970 SC?

Can't get over how sexy the reference cooler looks, was looking for reference coolers on /r/hardwareswap and also the Classifieds section of this forum, but was told on /r/hardwareswap that the GTX 970 share the same or are actually "identical" PCB's. But as of now, I've locked onto a Reference 980 cooler, and am planning to paint it black to resemble the looks of a Titan X.

If your card uses a reference PCB, then maybe, but if EVGA has made a custom one it won't fit.

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.
