Yeah that thing looks sweet!

I read about it last night on techpowerup!

The only drawback is it's 550W so might not be powerful enough for some builds. But I still want one (it would probably be okay for me but then I'd probably just go and stick a fan on top of it anyway, so...)

I'm sure its going to be expensive when it comes out but a 5 year warranty! I wish my G1600 came with a 5 year not a  3 year.

This also would be good for a silent build.

I have one of the RM series PSUs and love it, ill never use all 850w but i like the knowledge that there IS a fan there just in case.

That being said, if this is where the whole industry is going, ill be happy. Everything in my case has been optimized for sound (other than the damn intel cooler). That means there is one less moving part or fan to make sound.

Primary:

Intel i5 4670K (3.8 GHz) | ASRock Extreme 4 Z87 | 16GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical LP 2x8GB | Gigabyte GTX980ti | Mushkin Enhanced Chronos 240GB | Corsair RM 850W | Nanoxia Deep Silence 1| Ducky Shine 3 | Corsair m95 | 2x Monoprice 1440p IPS Displays | Altec Lansing VS2321 | Sennheiser HD558 | Antlion ModMic

HTPC:

Intel NUC i5 D54250WYK | 4GB Kingston 1600MHz DDR3L | 256GB Crucial M4 mSATA SSD | Logitech K400

NAS:

Thecus n4800 | WD White Label 8tb x4 in raid 5

Phones:

Oneplux 6t (Mint), Nexus 5x 8.1.0 (wifi only), Nexus 4 (wifi only)

There's a dial on mine so that I can turn the fan on and dial it to the speed I want and I'm always wondering whether I shouldn't just leave it running on the very lowest setting all the time but I'm worried that won't get overridden if it needs more air.

Here is a review (in German): http://www.computerbase.de/2015-02/enermax-digifanless-test-550-watt/#toc

One worrying thing:

Personally I wouldn't touch this with a long stick. CWT hasn't got the most stellar rep.

Seasonic has their 520W fanless and you can get CableMod cables (in multiple colors even) for it, so would much rather trust them.

I prefer the look of the Enermax but the Seasonic is pretty good looking too and as you say a more trusted manufacturer...

...actually I think this is getting into the realm of techporn...this thing looks like it's wearing fishnets...(I think I might just have another nerdgasm)...

550 watt should be enough for an x99 based platform with sli 970. This setup should consume about 450 watt under load

Wow, really? I know they tend to overestimate the GPU requirements (and I'm not altogether that knowledgeable on the subject) but I wouldn't have thought that.

Having said that, I do seem to remember Tom Logan running sli on a PSU of about that size.

What good is fanless PSU for if you are going to have fans on your CPU cooler and GPU cooler?

Unless you are going to passive cool everything this just seem like waste of money.

Its not a bad thing to keep it running low, so long as the fan doesn't whine when it does that. But most modern PSUs are pretty efficient in their power transformations and therefore don't create as much heat (waste). But if youve been using it for a while, even under load, without problems i kind of doubt that youll have an issue. If you have trouble keeping an overclock though because of power ripples, you might want to try and turn it up just in case.

At the moment I'm not overclocking but I might be looking at at least overclocking my GPU. The thing is I'm concerned that if I put it on the manual mode it might not regulate itself if it needs more airflow. It probably should but I don't want to assume that it does since it might  not. :0/

Maybe I should contact the company to try and find out.

Well it's one less fan and fans in PSU's until recently (recent years)  weren't very good quality. The fewer fans you have the quieter the system. If what you're looking for is total silence or nothing, then obviously it's not the Digifanless that's going to be the limiting factor.

Perfect for the new Maxwell cards due to semi-passive operation at low loads

Sure but the main thing is how it copes under full load. It should be enough to handle it but I probably wouldn't recommend fitting it with GTX480s or 470's in SLI or maybe even in a single card setup.  :0/

...but yes, for Maxwell it's fine as long as you're not going for CPU and SLI overclocks etc. especially if not using cards with extractor heatsinks rather than open heatsinks?

Pretty neat PSU! however there are a couple draw backs..

1) It is only 550 watts, which is enough for a standard run of the mill everyday use computer it will definitely not be **recommended** for a high performance build.  My particular build of a 3930K and 2 GTX 680's draws upwards of 700 (measured from the wall) watts.

2) The heat from PSU will have no way to be vented outside the case.  This isn't a problem for the typical case but if you put it in a super small form factor case the extra heat could cause a issue with adding heat to other components.

What's your current PSU?   Only because that sounds rather high, I though maybe your PSU wasn't very efficient. I would have estimated your rig to need just under 600Watts.

I have yet to use a PSU over 550watts, however I also don't OC or run dual GPUs.

The one thing that caught my eye with this is the 24/7 @ 40oc 5 year guarantee, and that's running at a 550watt constant load. That's very good for fanless.

My PSU is an AX 1200i buuut I also am running my 3930K at 4.5Ghz, and the 2 gtx 680's are "TOP" editions from ASUS, they were binned and all the usual jazz, so I run them OC'd at ~1350 mhz.  Also add in the 2x Laing D5 pumps annnd the 8 120mm fans.
