cant change the MemoryClock on Gtx970

Go to solution Solved by Imakuni,

Well that doesnt solve the problem because i want to increase it manually. I am new to overclocking so i was following a tutorial on YT and he did increase MemoryClock manually.

  1. Download Nvidia inspector, and open it.
  2. On the "P-state" field, check if it's saying P2 instead of P0.  If not, ignore the rest of this post, as I don't know what problem you are having.
  3. If it is, then you'll have to use Nvidia inspector to do all your OCing, instead of the regular software. Press "Show Overclocking".
  4. On the top, you'll see a performance level drop down menu, with 4 options to choose from. Clock speeds, max power limit, voltage and target temps can be controlled on "Performance Level [3] - P0". Memory can only be controlled on "Performance Level [2] - P2". Select that option.
  5. You can adjust your memory clocks there. 3506 is the max (actually, it's the speed it was supposed to work..), but you can go further by using the "unlock max" button on the top.

I hope it helps. *Note: I didn't come up with this; whaler69 did.

So i was going to overclock my ASUS Gtx 970 Strix but when i tried to increase the memory clock it change back to the original speed as soon as i pressed apply. I am using Asus Gpu tweak and i tried using Msi afterburner but i still have the same problem.

it probably doesnt need the speed so its running at a lower speed. it will probably clock up when you are playing a game

^ This. I'd say mine does, but I have three monitors running on it... May I ask OP, what memory does yours have?

But it did downclock idling with two monitors.

why would you want it running at max speed all the time that would waste a lot of power for no purpose
